  1. OK so after seeing Diablo immortal monetization by blizzard, let's be clear : I'M NOT LOOKING FORWARD TO THAT.
they made it clear that every single piece of content is gonna cost you an arm and a leg under the excuse "hey it's free to play you don't have to spend anything"
No that's bullshit and they know it.
If you like a game obviously you don't want to be locked out of enjoying it, except this time it won't cost you a mere 60 bucks, but hundreds if not thousands if you really want what is offered.
I would have been ok paying a game full price like the first but ok we know it's not viable for them long term, but I'd be ok paying a battle pass every month as well, just paying for new content and good service
But blizzard showed us how they treat us with immortal, it's gonna be battle pass AND shit fucking tons of money on top to get the content you like.
So yeah I really hope Diablo backlash will change their mind but I have absolutely no expectations for that, they're fucking vampires, that's what they are.

  2. They finally learned a thing or 2 from Riot's League and recently Valorant, when it comes to cosmetics. Not necessarily a great thing, under certain circumstances. What's sad however, is that most people were silenced by '' more cosmetics and weapon charms ''. The ow community still has no standards : D

  3. Game looks good and I'm excited, the beta was a lot of fun.

But good god jesus almighty praise satan I am so sick of "live service" and battle passes. It's just another one of those practices that makes you feel compelled to play so you don't miss out on anything rather than, y'know, the game just being so good you don't ever want to stop playing.

  5. Not a big fan of the new emotes, banners and charms but they dont make the game worse so people can just ignore them. If they keep their promises the new content is more than enough!

  7. So that's 2-3 heroes a year. Not bad. I'm curious about the costs of things but most important to me is the cross-platform progression. I have played OW on console since release but want to move over to PC so I can play with friends when OW2 comes out. This will give me a way to do both which is really great.

  8. Great breakdown video Sty! I'm curious about the thresholds for releasing new content (skins, heroes, maps etc) as I'm sure it isn't in perpetuity. For example if the player base drops below 100k or revenues drop below a certain amount will they stop releasing updated content? Also with the new F2P model, for folks who purchased Overwatch 1 will there be some sort of booster or special pack or will they be treated the same as any other F2P subscriber?

  9. I think free to play is a good way to go. There are not a lot of people playing the game anymore. So little in fact that if you play in gold or low plat it's getting harder to find people in the same rank and usually you have bronze and silver players too in the game.
Making the game f2p is imo a really good move because then more people will try out the game.
I love having a Battle pass but there are some drawbacks in the future if those items will be limited edition.
In the long run having limited time items will be a drawback because there are only so many different skins/emotes you can make before people will say that new items are too similar to old ones. I feel like Fortnite seems to have a problem where they seem to not release as many skins/emotes like they did back in the day because maybe they don't have as many ideas left.
Personally I think it would be a smarter idea in the long run to not make Battle pass items limited edition but instead a way to get some new skins earlier and on a discount. To make items more rare Overwatch could make an item shop randomized or a shop similar to Fornite because then with time items will be harder and harder to get because there are so many of them. Because items will be more rare it will also make people want to buy the items more often because they don't know how long until the next time they will come back.

  10. Looks like the system is coming straight fro Warzone – battle passes it’s directly from there ! Same a free to play warzone ! Obviously Call of duty is only for people who purchased game but all this system there as PvP is to level the guns and stuff you using as well in Warzone. Evident push from Activision to make more money – when there was reward box system without paying extra you could have everything all almost. Now game will be for free but if you want any cosmetics you will need to pay almost a full game price for premium battle pass every 9 weeks ! Nice 👌🏻. There is so called free battle pass but if I remember well from Warzone this was pretty poor drop. Everyone who want to customise here on OW2 will need to keep his wallet close.

  11. ActiBlizz made Overwatch 2 simply because they they had no proper monetization scheme implemented. These battle passes, mythic skins etc are surely gonna bring in some $$$ for the lads in the Cosby lounge.

  12. Meh.
It's nice to see they want to experiment with cosmetics, but I feel it's just going in the wrong direction. Especially the battle bass where it just feels like they are just trying to establish themselves as Fortnite: OW Edition. While I get they need to make money somehow since they did away with lootboxes, I feel there is just a missed opportunity to really hammer in on character customization.

Sure, add new keychains and mythic skins to the battle pass and in game shop, but what would have been a better incentive to purchase the pass/items would have been to get cosmetic parts: head, torso, arms, legs, feet etc. If the devs want players to express themselves, then make character models and weapons themselves customizable along with the addition of the keychains rather than make a skin a majority of the players may or may not buy or like. So what if a skin gets some glow effects? It's not like you will probably see it outside of emoting and most of us already have beloved skins we have a tendency to fall back on.

Genji gets a "Cyberpunk Japanese Demonic theme"

Head: Oni (make the mask glow or remove his standard helm and make his eyes glow)
    Torso and Arms: Blackwatch
    Legs: Mythic
Feet: whatever (you get the point, half the items needed to make said theme has already been there)

This also goes to say that they should upgrade the hero gallery, where you can customize your heroes there as well as preview different parts as mentioned above.

For emotes and stuff, it's already there so nothing new, but adding stickers to our weapons would be nice as well, at least 1 or 2, maybe change the color scheme or even just the ability to use the weapon you obtained from a different skin so there isn't too much going on.

I could go on and sure, it's more work, but 100% worth in the end as character customization is the beginning and the endgame of any game. Hopefully they stumble upon and commit to the idea instead of just keychains and make better use of their monetization. OW2 need to express it's own identity and not that of another game's, and if they should copy and paste, then do something differently.

Other than that, I look forward to new heroes and modes/events they plan to bring to the table. From beta OW to OW2, I really want to see this game take off instead of fighting the urge to shelf a favorite FPS.

Zarya will one day call for battle. Mei too, which I still believe should have been a tank.

  13. I feel like 'World's best sniper" would be a title and you can unlock titles and stuff through the battle pass and events and ranking up and playing the PvE, like maybe doing a questline in the PvE around the founding of overwatch and get the "Founder" title or, if you already owned overwatch 1 then you get the "OG" title and such.

  14. I'm really bummed about the season pass, now it will be basically be a subscription for cosmetics, whereas before you'd play the game and the more you played the better the odds for stuff, that and you rack up a lot of gold. I'd always wait until the end of an event to buy anything I was missing with gold, but when they changed the odds to favor thing's you're missing I very rarely had to buy anything. It's just a huge cash grab now and with all of the changes they're making to the game I loved to play, original Overwatch, I'm just not excited at all anymore. I was very hopeful going into the beta, but after 2 days I got super bored with it, there was no more strategy, just everyone kill the tank and when the tank is dead the rest of the team die soon after and then push forward until the next tank fight. Blizzard really had a great thing going, had they not stopped working on Overwatch 1 to work on Overwatch 2 so early, as in until they were further ahead with development, things may have been different. We would always joke that Overwatch 2 kept getting delayed because they were busy working on Overwatch 3. Yes there was a lot of hype for the beta, but that quickly diminished. And the pve aspect, I see it as most likely replayable for longer than the seasonal events now, but I see that getting old pretty fast too. I think people are going to realize that we had it pretty good for a while and unfortunately I can see it losing more and more players. Thanks for the great times Overwatch 1!

  15. I don’t like the idea of the battle past since I’m sure they will lock the best skins behind paywalls. At least the loot boxes currently are pretty easy to get so long as you are willing to play overwatch.
I wouldn’t be surprised if the Mythic skins are locked as the last reward for the premium battle past.
