  1. Anyone who “tricks out” their rainwater garbage can collection doesn’t live in reality. Do not follow a gay person‘s advice as it likely will not be functional. People are so ridiculously weird. What a waste of time and money.

  2. Not all hacks are winners.
I picked up four heavy duty food grade 55 gallon drums from a food processing plant. They can't reuse them, so they give them away.

Those four containers weigh 1700 pounds. A mere.40 gallons will with 320 pounds. Make sure of your supports.

If drums are cheap, consider drilling a lot of drainage holes, and turning them into low-profile rolling compost buckets.

  3. That is a great idea but believe it or not, there are some cities and towns that have regulations against recovering rainwater. As stupid as it sounds, it would be a law I would break without hesitation.

  4. Do be careful as to the laws & regulations of your own state. In some states this is illegal and punishable with a fine and/or jail time. In California it's legal to collect water only in the way this video describes. It just come off your own roof and is the only way to legally collect it for private use. Due to mosquito regulations this can change and/or the water must be covered.
