If you've never turned your tv sideways to play ikaruga or something similar, you are living your life wrong.

I don't have much expertise in shmups, but the ship selection screen immediately reminded me of old "B-Wings" game on NES, which instantly grabbed my attention

Man, you should definitely review shmups! There are plenty of channels and sites for the more hardcore – even if you say you're not good at them, neither are loads of people, so it's good to have places out there giving recommendations (or not) from that view point.
Totally agree with this review, by the way. Sophstar is an awesome game, and you'd better believe I've got the physical on its way too!
