Every Lord Of The Rings Video Game Ranked From WORST To BEST

In 1937, J. R. R. Tolkien unleashed The Hobbit onto the world, which consequently threw us all into a fantastical world of goblins, wizards, and dragons. The Hobbit was incredibly well received, but it wasn’t until 1954 that readers were able to explore Middle-earth once more with the release of The Fellowship of the Ring. This marked the beginning of an epic adventure that ultimately spanned a three-part collection, and crafted a realistic, living world onto the page. Over time, The Lord of the Rings has become something of a classic piece of literature, and so, naturally, it has received numerous adaptations into various media, including animation, film, TV, and, of course, video games. Here is Every Lord of the Rings Video Game Ranked from Worst to Best!

  1. I've spent a lot of my time looking for the best LOTR experience gaming can provide and there are so many options old and new – But in my mind nothing stands up to a fan-made mod for Medieval 2 Total War called 'Third Age' and it's submod 'Divide and Conquer'. There is no more complete experience in my opinion.

  2. Lotro was/is such a great MMO i startet back 2008, it was "My Vanilla WoW" my jump in the MMO Genre, the world was great, i like the roll system (Tank, Healer, Support, DPS) it just aged porly but i still play today sometimes to relax and chill out

  3. from someone who played most of these starting around 2002, Lord of the rings online is the best by a lightyear for any tolkien nerd…EVERYTHING from the books is covered and then way more added…the game's story is YOUR story during the war of the ring…..imagine the books as a naked christmas tree then the developpers added a bunch of things and events to ''decorate that tree'' and EVERYTHING fits perfectly from a fanfic point of view….right now the max level is 140…yes 140 and a new expansion is due next November…to give you a sense of how long this is, when you see the scene where Frodo destroys the ring you're around level 105….its around 8k quests for someone who does all the content and a good 1 year project to reach endgame…its not just another RPG its also trying to bring middle-earth to life so there is WAY more content than needed to progress

  4. I can't believe that right after a few mentions of Boromir's death, they didn't mention he doesn't die in Battle for Middle Earth, instead travelling up to Edoras with the group and then to Minas Tirith with Gandalf and Pippin, and fights in the final battle as well.
(Well he can die permanently, but it's actually harder than him not dying)

  5. I love old games don’t get me wrong, but to put any of the ancient games above the likes of Conquest is just lying to yourself and others. I have my copy of Conquest and return to play it to this day. Couldn’t pay me to play any of the MS-DoS games,

  6. 1:37 in fairness to rise to war for mobile game standards it’s not that bad. Has a few decent systems for what the norm is in that market

There is also some appeal to it with being able to use a lot of characters that wouldn’t appear in most other middle earth titles like Isildur, Thranduil, Gil Galad, Cirdan, Celeborn, etc

But it is just a fairly standard mobile game bogged down with pay to win economy and tries its best to exploit people with gambling addictions with almost everything in the game relying on luck in loot boxes.

Unfortunately they also have no spending limit in place per season so some people will just mindlessly drop thousands of dollars per season making them essentially unbeatable unless someone has also spent a lot of money.

  7. In battle for middle earth 2 the heroes(at least on the good side) were extremely overpowered..i remember doing the campaign with only the heroes and was having little trouble..like Ettenmoors or Blue mountains you only have Glorfindel and Gloin but these two can wipe out the entire map by themselves(with some breaks to heal up)

  8. I remember playing an absurd amount of War of the Ring and The Third Age when I was younger. I wish they would release them on steam or some other digital platform. Hard to find copies of them anymore and if you do they're usually massively overpriced

  9. lego LotR is backwards compatible, but its not available on the Microsoft store for newer gen xbox's, but if you have the disc from your 360 you can play it on newer get consoles

  10. I thought the MMO sucked, it came out and bombed… Should have been a massive hit like WoW, but it sucked. The best game was Shadow of Mordor….

  11. Third Age’s turn based concept was AMAZING, but the creators dropped the ball on the story, especially in regard to character development and the absolute fuck ass ending that was battling the eye of Sauron….?

  12. BFTM2 is soooo good, to this day I play it with friends, we have to do it in non legal ways as it isn't readily available now, but we would instantly buy it should they re-release it.
