In today’s video, I reveal my current top 40 of the contest after reviewing the songs in detail and scoring them based on several categories to come up with a final mark out of ten.

  7. Spain The best entry this year. It makes you feel happy and dance in just 1 second. Visually amazing and beautiful, world class choreography, ethnic Spanish and Latino sound and moves. What else? It's pure joy and pure eurovision

  12. I am from Poland
    Last year I was terribly disappointed with who was sent from my country. For me it was the worst performance ever by Poland at Eurovision. This year it's a kind of cosmos. The situation has changed by 180°. They sent a song that could be the black horse of Eurovision. The problem could be the voting, which could make it finish in a low place. I am very calm about advancing to the final. Honestly, Poland has the best chance to win Eurovision this year. I hope I will live to see the day when Poland wins Eurovision, but the adult Eurovision

  19. Interesting with Slovenia in your top 10. I have to say, I am not entirely convinced by the song. There is no doubt that the chord changes are a lot more elaborate than those of the average pop song (how many times have I not found myself cursing over another "4 Chord Song" with A minor, F major, C major and G major – or transposed to another key). However, I think that within the song's own genre (sort of jazz/funk/disco-thing), the chords are just too predictable, and I didn't find myself really intrigued or surprised at any point. If there had been, say, a folk instrumentation underneath, it would have been unusual with all the maj7's and altered chords, but within this genre, I think it is pretty standard. Also, the instrumental breaks are too typical of the style to me. As such, it feels more like a style exercise to me rather than an individual piece in its own right. I also miss a clear melody to remember. My favourite part was probably the tempo change towards the end.

    Maybe I'm a little bit biased here, because I studied music back in the day, and this type of music was played a lot, and I got fed up with it.

    If we speak advanced tonality, I am more keen on Georgia. The guitar riffs between the vocal parts were almost dodekaphonic (12-tone).
