I’ve previously covered both Efteling of the Netherlands and Phantasialand of Germany. Today, I would like to round out what I consider to be the best of European theme parks with Europa Park, located in Germany as well. Often labeled as the Disneyland of Germany, Europa Park mostly lacks the hyper-corporate nature of its American counterparts, offering interesting lessons in theme park design. In this video, I would like to explore its various attractions and overall design, trying to understand why it’s often considered to be one of the best, if not the best theme park in the world.

Correction: I stated that Euro-sat – Cancan Coaster was an IP tie-in to the 2001 Moulin Rouge film. I was under the impression that the inclusion of Offenbach's "Orpheus in the Underworld" referenced a scene in the film. To be clear, the coaster itself is just simply a Moulin Rouge theme and is not connected to the film.
There is a charming little theme park in Gilroy, California called Gilroy Gardens.
Subscribed. Masterful breakdown
Can you pick your seats on the coasters at europa?
Disneyland should have been built in Sunny Spain not in France
i have never heard about this park before.
An interesting upgrade you seem to have missed is the upgrade of the "cave coaster" seen at 22:48
That coaster (which was a little bit boring before) has been upgrade to include a "virtual coaster". You can lend VR-glasses (for a small fee: last time i visited it was €5) and the VR glasses will transport you in a completely different world. I didn't expect much from it but was blown away how well this worked. The VR-coaster matches almost exactly the forces you experience while riding the original coaster. As someone who is susceptible for motion sickness, I had no problems at all.
Nice video about europa park
I personally like Phantasialand better but Both are great
How can you say EuroMir is one of the weaker coaster experience? It is my absolute favorite! The music of the waiting area and the lift is legendary!
I wonder if this park is going to be open in the Autumn or if rationing shuts it down. -Going in Summer you absolutely cook out in the park.
Europa park is called the Disneyland of Germany, despite being better than Disney.
It really shows how differ of a direction both parks went in.
One a dream of a man to enhance his company with the meaning lost through the years.
The other a fan project to bring Disney to Europe but in a more familiar way, preserving the original magic that Disney felt like.
You should look at Plopsaland in Belgium, it's from Studio 100, it's alot like disney in mini version. They have their own IP's like disney that they use for theming the rides. Even themed hotels now.
If you like the style of Europapark you might also be interested in „Trippsdrill“, a theme park that has mastered theming just as well. All their attractions and waiting lines are themed around a local tale. It is not as big but has both thrilling coasters and smaller attractions for families.
I was at DL Paris for the first time in 20 years and was surprised how shabby it seems. The restaurant and shopping area outside is very dated and faded of what it was once at my first visit in 1996 when I lived in Paris (and had an annual pass in 1997). I have no feeling of needing to go back.
But I DO want to visit with other theme parks across Europe.
A great subject for a video but you dont make it very interesting, I drifted off continually. You sound half asleep and bored.
Sorry, but this park looks boring. I wouldn’t compare this to Universal Studios
I suggest you to check Gardaland out too, it is the biggest park in Italy and i think it does well on the European scale, not as heavily themed but great rides
Don't forget the fourth park: Parc Asteríx in France!
My dad and I used to go to Europa Park for 3-4 days at a time every couple years. He would make us go on all the rides even the ones that are for kids, so we get to experience everything. It was awesome and surprisingly not boring at all. We'd eat in a different "country" every day and go see different shows. That park is really awesome. It's very unique and different compared to Universal, Disney, or even Six Flags.
It's so sad to hear/see they've changed the theming of Eurosat. It was hands down my favorite ride with its techno music and space theme.
Your video brought back many happy memories, thank you!
There’s an Arthur and the Invisibles theme park land? Fun Fact: Luc Besson directed those movies.
This Park is almost a rip-off between MK and Epcot clearly on some Rides at least but in european style, so it is everyone else tasted if they can´t afford the OG Parks or so or have no issues getting into a Rip-Off Park that hasn´t enough creativity to copy in their style such Disney iconic Rides instead of having unique own Rides, not that they are bad but it is clearly just rip-offs not really much creatively done.
But thankfully it has their own Rides as well or it would be ridiculous boring but Eurosat is a shame of it´s own almost copying Spaceship Earth there were even some legal issues but it seems unfortunately Disney couldn´t make up to that Copycat.
For Ride Enthusiats it´s good enough for Thrill Seekers who cares only for Rides mostly not for which Parks they are. And there is unique things in such Parks but not for all.
When was the park empty during the day?- it looks like a deserted park!
Great Video!
And the entrance and food/drink prices are way cheaper than Disney.
I really want to visit this place. Phantastialand is my absolute favorite, but I am only in Germany like every 5 years so haven't seen Europa yet
I❤Europa Park!!!!
If you like Europa Park, you should check out Le Pal in France ! 🙂 similar "European amusement park" vibes, it's well themed (basically a "trip around the world" theme), with a little less attention to details that some other parks, but with the addition of a zoo on half its surface ! Used to go there really often as a child, then as a teenager and once as an adult, and it's really grown well with its public (my mom used to frequent it in the 70s when it was juste a wooden carousel and some slides). Also the food is very high quality for an amusement park bc this is France and we will stop and sit for an hour to eat local chicken and fries :')
I love that they have lots of trees, would make a long day at a park much more bareable in the summer.
wtf man the music at the start is insanely loud.
I mean viennas Prater is nothing but flat rides pay as you ride all year round. Yes theming is not as extensive as in other parks but how can argue with a cheap thrill. Dont go ther for long your vallet will not thank you if don't keep an eye on it.
Why the space theam in frace because france is one of the spacyest nations of Europe.
I wonder if Disney is okay with this or if they have sued this park.
Your comment about slow rides rings true. You need a “quiet ride” between the fast ones to calm back down and relax a bit.
I used to love the “dragon boat lifts” at Magic Mountain which was a slow ride which is now where Batman was built. It allowed you to tak in the scenery and get up or down a steep hill.
I was here way back in 1998, and hopefully I can get back in the next couple years.
You smell that? That's the smell of German engineering.
Jokes aside, you know why the comparison to Disney is always going to be made? Because it's the amount of time and care that used to be put in towards making something. Disney may have fallen from grace in recent years, but we all know and remember the passion they used to have. So its exciting to see other people emulate that and then make it their own. At the end of the day, it's nice to know that someone out there cares enough to make an enjoyable experience for other people.
I need to go to theme parks around the world omggg
sorry to say this but i hate the "clearly inspired by disney" nah
This park single-handedly prevented WW3 up to now.
12:50 the old one is better though same with the african raft ride they changed due to "racism"
Arthur and the Minimoys was released as a film for the English part of the world aas Arthur and the Invisibles

Oh, that's a trip down the memories! Been to Europa Park a few times about twenty years ago. I was devastated when I heard about the fire in the Batavia Ride, loved it as a kid. But it looks even better and the new restaurant in it is a nice touch. Didn´t recognize anything of the "Geisterhaus", all the Dark rides seem a bit more colorful than in my Memorie. The recycling of the old Dino Animatronics makes me smile, it was more of a spooky ride in the past. Now the bad dinos wear scarves and play in the kitchen of a nice old lady. XD
Great Video, makes me want to go there again in the future and walk between old and new attractions!
I went here in 1984 when I was. 21. I thought it was good back then.
I have now convinced the entire family to go Europa park. 👍
OMG. This park copied Epcot center and Busch Gardens Williamsburg
Russia area needs to get replaced with a new ukraine themed area, f**k off russia!
