Eurofighter Typhoon | A Fighter Jets That Will Be Used By The Philippine Air Force In The Future ?

The Eurofighter Typhoon is a European multinational twin-engine, canard delta wing, multirole fighter. The Typhoon was designed originally as an air-superiority fighter and is manufactured by a consortium of Airbus, BAE Systems and Leonardo that conducts the majority of the project through a joint holding company, Eurofighter Jagdflugzeug GmbH. The NATO Eurofighter and Tornado Management Agency, representing the UK, Germany, Italy and Spain, manages the project and is the prime customer.

The aircraft’s development effectively began in 1983 with the Future European Fighter Aircraft programme, a multinational collaboration among the UK, Germany, France, Italy and Spain. Previously, Germany, Italy and the UK had jointly developed and deployed the Panavia Tornado combat aircraft and desired to collaborate on a new project, with additional participating EU nations. However disagreements over design authority and operational requirements led France to leave the consortium to develop the Dassault Rafale independently. A technology demonstration aircraft, the British Aerospace EAP, first flew on 6 August 1986; a Eurofighter prototype made its maiden flight on 27 March 1994. The aircraft’s name, Typhoon, was adopted in September 1998 and the first production contracts were also signed that year.

  1. Eurofighter Typhoons are a great addition to our Air Force, but reality check?!… We can't afford it as of today, due to budget constraints and lack of funding as well, but a 2nd hand Eurofighters can be a good alternative solution though… And a several Squadrons of F-16 FFalcons Block 50 but up graded to Viper standards, is a great option for our MRF problem. A 24 units of Euro Fighter Typhoons, and 24/36 units of F-16 FFalcons, is perfect for our MRF project, and a 24/36 units of FA-50 Block 20's, up graded version is a perfect plan now, if Sweden w on't sell thier Gripens, and if we can't acquire the F-16 Viper variant as well.

  2. Eurofighter is not even is the shortlist of our possible MRF for the PAF. The reality is, we can only afford FA-50, JAS-39 or second-hand F-16s. At least, those in our shortlist are already combat proven. Euro-fighter is not.
