  1. About cheats, there are games I would never,.ever,.play a second time without it. Like jRPGs you need to keep grinding levels forever and ever. So it is a way to make my investiment into a game give more return.
I also used the extra lifes code in Contra to beat the game. And because of the cheat, I kept playing a lot, until one day I was able to beat the game without the cheat.
And there is a lot of games I only pkayed due to cheats, I do not care if the developer wanted me to suffer for days until beating a boss (hello Spuls games), I do not have infinite free time anymore.
So there are lota of cases when cheats are great.

  2. Just last night I was playing Montezuma Again! which gives you 200 lives to start and I spent all night trying to see if there was a cheat for the original Parker Brothers to give you infinite lives, and in the comments at AtariMania for the game they told you what to change in a hex editor and I was able to create a version with 250 lives. I like to explore to see where I need to go to collect all the right keys, and not worry about constant saving, and then play the game again with the standard amount of lives. Love Montezuma Again! and all the Zdendazuma disks. I can never get enough Montezuma levels!

  3. I'm stunned how great 3 games are here! Just wow! Escape from Mars influenced by Moon Patrol is not just a copy of that game. It's similar but has some original elements that I really like (i.e. those rockets like a kind of boss levels). Cave Raider has minimalistic graphics but it's very complex game. Main character moves smoothly and has nice animations. I really like it and great sound effects. And last but not least Kovi Kovi, outstanding game incluenced by Dr Mario but the game rules are different and 2 player mode is a super cool idea taken from a few other games with competition modes. Graphics with animated sprites is amazing! What a great beginning of a year! Thanks for the video and stratch your cats from me. Especially Atari. I felt sorry for him when he lost his treat under the bed and later he lost the competition :).

  4. I can understand the devs wanting to make a little money for their troubles but I think all games should be available for download without DRM/ID/protection after ~5 years. Imagine now if no one could play all the games for free from back in the day via emulation. You know that would be miserable.

  5. I'm happy to spend $5-$12 for Intellivision roms I really want. I bought 4 on Dec 30th at Intellivision Collector while they were still there, but it was all I could afford to buy after Christmas. I hope eventually they start selling the Intellivision Collector ones there again. I'm not seeing any roms for sale at the Elektronite site yet unfortunately.

  6. I am happy to pay a reasonable amount for any official digital version of the 2600 homebrews, especially if they include pdf manuals and boxart images. I do it all the time for NES games on Itch and Kickstarter. If I have an "unofficial" digital copy in my store, I will always check for an official copy to buy or donate to before I play it. I wanna support the fine folks that are keeping the fires burning! I am so glad that AtariAge is finally going to be making the digital files available – I'll even buy the ones I already have "final" copies of.
