I love the design of the monsters in this game, and there is enough variety that it doesn't seem boring to fight them

ngl this feels like Carrion but you play as an employee on the facility
Super cool well-executed concept. I could see this game going far.
But I think they should reserve those root-like entities for the main infection areas since players won't always have a flamethrower to deal with them. Otherwise everything looks to be in a really great spot.

My only issue is with the big slime mold type enemy. Edit: Not the main infection.
Granted I haven't played but it feels like an RNG check. Like "did you luck into a good enough weapon to deal with it? No? New run sorry!"
Not saying you can't have tough enemies but the margin of error to survive that seems razor thin.
I suspect it is possible that if the RNG was extra helpful with lockdown cards, you could lock it in place long enough to get a weapon and potentially defeat the infection.

Am I alone in seeing the potential to make a board game around this concept?
This is a very cool concept; an infectious mass that is very difficult to get rid of, and is constantly growing alone is a great set-up.
The limited ammo resource – along with being able to lock areas – really help with this concept even further.
I have a lot of faith that this will be even better on full release.
