A pamphlet tells you what matierals you need to craft soemthing. Those matierals are usally plants (you find them out on the floor). You can craft ammo types, potions, food with different flavorsz and more. Just dont focus on it lol. Youll be looking all around for the herbs and stuff.
Gotta stop skipping up the random events joe, those people can come back to help you later in the story, the guy feeding the horse who you ran off with your gun was showing you a plant you can use😂
