Ep4 Flood it and it will work better : Oxygen not included



Still not sure I’m a fan of flooding your O2 production. Seems like a lot of effort for not a lot of gain. You can in theory make smaller O2 production boxes but outside of a small map I’m not sure how helpful that is.
I’ll reserve judgement until after I have spent some time with it though.

  1. Want to make your hydra/soggy spom use EVEN LESS power? try starvation ranching some smog slugs in the hydrogen area. You only get the H2 at night but the amount is enormous. I've been experimenting with one and it's actually quite an interesting design. I hope I can post about it on the Klei forums sooner or later.

  2. Great episode as always, but the "small amount of liquid" is a common misconception. you can actually put two full bottles of two different liquids and it should not overpressure your oxygen maker thingy

  3. I pretty much only build hydras because I find them more reliable. Two things to make your life simpler: you can dump 200kg of each liquid in there and it'll work fine. Also you only need to prime one side. Sometimes I don't even bother with priming and save and reload if the gasses go the wrong way on startup.

  4. Even if you're not an immediate fan of the exploity mechanics I'm glad you're giving them a chance. Using game mechanics creatively opens up basically a whole other ONI game with what you can accomplish.

  5. Electrolyzers don't get flooded until around 200kg of water per tile so there is no concern about loading them up with a lot of liquid.

    There is a lot more flexibility regarding where the oxygen and hydrogen can output than you might think. I tend to use a horisontal layout with an opening into an upper hydrogen chamber above the electrolyzer, and airflow tiles between them leading to a lower oxygen output. I tend to build a row of at least 4, and I try to avoid pumping Oxygen when I can by letting the O2 side of the electrolyzers flow into my base. Pumping O2 is very expensive on power, so avoiding it makes it much more efficient. There is little staging for the build when built horizontally, as just about everything can be queued up right from the start. It's easy to lay down the liquids using bottle emptiers when you know that more than a few kg won't flood or overpressuirze them.

  6. How does this hold up between multiple save/reloads? When I made something like this with 4 electrolyzers, it ran fine for awhile but the first time I loaded a game all of the liquids were displaced and it no longer worked.

  7. You don't actually need to seed both sides of a hydra. If one side is vacuum and the other side is just one gas (eg oxygen) you can start the oxydizers up and the other gas will spawn on the side with the vacuum.

  8. You can actually put 200kg of liquid on the tiles, they will split up to 100kg each tile and the electrolyzers will work fine. I always do this, it is easier bcz you can use bottle emptier to add liquids. However i never tried to use pwater, idk if it would off gas to the sides

  9. İ think u need add another atmo sensor for electrolizers in hydrogen room . İt makes sure system never runs out power or hydrogen (extra safe)+ if u have more water easly u can use that water for extra power
