Food storage is always a compromise. You can either run one food and automate storage perfectly or run multiple foods and have to do a bit of jank to keep it running.

It's all fun and games until a dupe falls asleep and drops super hot material in the oil liquid lock
The problem with some of the food not hitting deep freeze temps, or cooling at all really, is that if it's been cooled down inside of a fridge its temperature is clamped for some reason. As long as you're not continually using fridges once that food goes off it'll stop being a problem. Reloading might fix it but it's a pretty minor problem as long as you didn't have dozens and dozens of fridges stuffed with food. I do think chlorine (or hydrogen) will fix the issue as well, the temperature will remain clamped but the atmosphere will set the food's status to deep freeze rather than refrigerated
its not a mod. It's a bug (With items not xfering temperature with the ground) I haven't figured out EXACTLY what causes it, but it always happens when I build my fridges (same thing, vacuum and coldplate)
You could put some more conductive tiles under cooking stations.
I know you announced when episodes air, but I forgot it.
Could you please put the message in the background of your channel? It's a good place for people to see it.
Thanks for the entertainment and the lols, Francis!
Food in gas environment that is under -18 C is considered deep frozen, no matter the actual temperature of the food. It could be boiling and still deeply frozen 🙂
It's much easier with chlorine, and the "cold" that escapes is negligible, due to minuscule mass of liquid barrier.
You make these play-thrus look easy, I have a hard time getting into plastics, let alone, Steam Turbines, Oil, and now a volcano geesh
Get large petrol engines with data banks from analysing geysers. Build a 30 tile range rocket with a cargo bay. If you get one guilded asteroid field you can gather a ton of fullerene which will set you up for a loong time. Plenty of magma to use as a heat source for your sour gas boiler. You can be set up before cycle 500 or 600.
👍
Yeah, I usually just have a gas in the freezer tile, helps spreading the cold and prevents offgassing

Why not drop there a piece of bleach stone, so that it offgases into Chlorine?
Extra sterile, doesn't let potential spoiled food offgas pO2
Man can please do an automatition lesson on how to automate drilling ship? pleaseeeeee
love the Oni playthroughs, always go over the 30 minute mark.
have you looked into the geotuners yet? i started my first world in a while and just now got to the point i could potentially use one
I'm playing this same seed, but as a full achievement run. And watching while playing, it got in my mind that I should just set up some coal generators to refine some metal… Whoops. There goes Super Sustainable achievement. So, I didn't notice until after all my saves were overwritten… So, restarted for attempt 2. I think the most annoying achievements are the 2 for food and power. But, maybe I'll get some plastic soon and make some geothermal power. There's quite a few easy spots for that.
hey, author of True Tiles here: it doesn't and can't alter temperature behavior of tiles. It only messes with the rendering of the visuals. That's still a normal copper metal tile, nothing was changed on it.
Truetiles cannot affect temps. It is either a fluke, or in need of a bug report for a vanilla bug. Vacuum heat transfer tends to be buggy.
I'm still hoping for a Francis John Baator playthrough, or a Francis John heavily modded playthrough.
Rather than faffing about with sweepy bots, how about setting up an unpowered fridge in a petroleum puddle, auto-sweeper and food from the kitchens dropped off in a dupe-inaccessible nook all within your naptha cooked food storage? No need for any thermal transfer gases like chlorine or hydrogen. Handily takes care of the food leftovers problem.
The bug with food temperature: Sometimes when food is stored in a refrigerator, it gets stuck at 1 degree until save/reload. So since you're not using refrigerators, it shouldn't happen again.
I love using Regulators for my colony fridges. A single pip planted wild wheezewort can handle their heat output easily.

The hermit is 3304 cycles old, yeesh. No wonder he would only come out after giving him some amazing food, poor guy has probably been eating those tasteless nutrient bars the entire time.
For the food storage square, I don't use vacuum but I place a piece of bleach stone there, it will emit a bit of chlorine gas which stays there because it's heavier than oxygen, then I seal the square off. The chlorine will help to eliminate any germs that may find their way to the food I have. Do you think this is good? I don't know, it's been a long time I haven't played. It's a bit finicky to keep the chlorine in gas form when I freeze the thing, though.
This series really makes me want to play ONI again, but even after deleting everything and reinstalling twice it crashes at the Klei logo. Works just fine even with mods on my laptop from 2016, but who wants to play it on an I3.
can i recommend the suppress current mod that stops all that annoying flashing of buildings not in use.
For the food that is not refrigerated(1°c) after being in the fridge (the building one) you'll need to restart the game so you can get them to sub zero temps
Food bugging out is because the food that is less than a certain quantity does not exchange heat. It's a pain 🙁
wish i did that technique of insulating the plastic shift plate, i just have a pocket of sour gas now haha
Had a good idea today. What about putting a shine bug in the fridge as a fridge light? also radiation, the real reason.
