Let me explain a bit more about this video:
Welcome to the game of Smash or Pass the Mystery Mould edition!
Smash or Pass is a game where you make a yes or no decision on an object, person, or thing by using the word ‘smash’ or ‘pass’. The game is typically played with ‘smash’ meaning yeah that’s good and ‘pass’ meaning I will pass on that. However, as we smash the things we don’t like in pottery and pass the things on that we do, I will be playing it the other way.
SMASH= The piece is not good and will not be going to the next stages. The piece will be smashed hehe not like the usual way.
PASS= it’s good and I will take it to the next steps.
If you have been a long time follower you will know that I have my Mystery Mould series where I unveil these moulds one at a time and decorate them. The pieces that pass this game will feature in the series when I start it up again. The smashes will not but this video series gives me an opportunity to clear out some moulds that won’t fit in my new studio or maybe aren’t the best for the series. Some are seriously cursed!
*But wait, won’t it spoil the mystery?*
Yes and No! The mystery mould series will return but will have a mix of pieces from this series as well as some picked randomly like normal. By the time I get to them, I think you will either have forgotten about the piece or be super eager to see how it comes to life in the series. I am actually excited to hear your ideas on the ones we do pass on to the series as I may be able to implement them into the video and the design of the artwork. I am excited for the debates and discussions about whether I made the right decision for each mould. I am also excited to cull some moulds so I have less to move when I get the shelves for my new space.
*Wait, are you smashing the moulds??*
Ok, not smashing the moulds! I am smashing the cast it makes inside. I will clean the moulds up and find new homes for them that will appreciate them. AS much as I can see potential in all the moulds, I do want to focus on the ones that spark the most inspiration, have the grooviest of ideas and can be shaped and crafted in new ways. The smashed moulds are great but great for someone else who they are a better fit for. I will share details where you can get these moulds very soon.
Are you ready to play?
I will be sharing a poll after each episode over on Instagram. If you think I made the wrong decision on the pieces, come over and vote. I may bring something back if you vote for it back!

I’m so glad you kept that little bowl lol I was gunna be disappointed if you didn’t pass it on.
I agree with the choices. Loved that little bowl, look forward to see what you do with it.
I think the big dog treat/doggy bag would be a huge seller. Keep it!!! The dog on the tucker box waited for his master who never came home…a gorgeous old folk poem about a dog's enduring love for his owner. I don't like the cherubs either, as they're not particularly well made
The tiny bowl should have a jug to go with it.
Your new studio is such an amazing space <3 every time I see it in the background it makes me smile, your joy from working in there is very apparent! <3
I thought the little dish could be a saucer for a child teacup. You should do the big dog as a St Bernard. We have a lot of big roadside attractions in Canada too. In Smoky Lake Alberta they have giant pumpkins… Based on winning pumpkins from its yearly pumpkin growing contest.
The little plate reminded me of the chinese ancient dramas where they use something like that to drink wine
I'd make the puppy bag container a patchwork plushie puppy… I'd alsomake it a cookie jar because I think that would be more hilarious. I woukd want at least one person in my life to say to me "did you just get cookies from that dog's butt?"
For the little dish, I'd sculpt some foods and make food in a dish magnets.
Clifford the big red dog!
Like the big dog treats jar. Or that's what I would use it for.
Hey Shelby, I’ve been binge watching as you can probably tell by all the comments!!!
Do you only do ceramics by mould or do you also use a wheel?
Those kissing angels are popular in the US.
The first doggy jar would look great with one of the butterflies from your first Smash or pass on his butt
May you please do an Easter craft session using the lettuce/cabbage leaves and some of your wonderful imagination?
I reckon paint the pupper a beautiful red/orange and then make his nose and eyes gold lustre 😍
You could paint a customers dog for then with with dog bag holder just a thought ❤ also I saw the tiny bowl and my mind went straight for "jewellery bowl"
Idk, the big dog jar seems a bit too big to be practical, but it's so cute! I firmly believe that you cold make something good with those little angels, but yeah, they're corny XD
I have a set of the kissing angels in a larger scale that my grandmother painted they are my pride and joy of my Christmas décor because she painted them… Great memories
We found the exact dog biscuit jar at an antique shop in Macon, GA USA Today for $35!! Wish I could share a picture!
How did the dog get even cuter when you smashed him? Even with his little face smooshed, he was adorable 🥰
the small bowl can also be used for tea bags.
