Ep.2.08: "The Dorn Identity" with Michael Dorn

Season 2, episode 8 is here. Dominic is back! He, Connor, and Erica talk with the legendary Michael Dorn, known for playing the original Prune Juice Warrior, WORF on Star Trek: The Next Generation, Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, TNG movies and more.

This is a special episode because we are releasing a much longer version of the conversation so that everyone can see what our Patreon members get. Patreon members also get ad-free viewing.

In this conversation, we learn about Michael’s childhood, his time in a rock band. Why and how he got into β€œthe business”, why he almost walked away from Star Trek and why he stayed. He flies jets (and normal planes), rides motorcycles, and is vegan. Why is he vegan? Prostates. Wash is quiet today. Erica gets some fan questions in, Connor, Dominic, and Michael play for Patreon Member Jill Sheets in this week’s Star Trek Trivia, and Michael plays β€œStuck on a Deserted Island with Connor Trinneer.” It’s another awesome deep dive episode! Today is a good day to chat.

The modestly more full conversation is available for our amazing Patreon Members.

  1. Wonderful episode! Happy to see Dominic back and in good health!! One small critique and I say this in the kindest way possible, Dom please be careful about interrupting the guests when they're talking. lol It really disrupts the flow. There were many times I was waiting for Michael to complete a thought and he would get cut off. Love the show! Thanks for all the great work!

  2. I so enjoyed this episode! Michael Dorn is such a sweet guy and a great storyteller. The two hours just flew by. Your set is getting cozier every time, creating an atmosphere of friends sitting together and chatting. Please keep it up!

And the fact that Dom was back made this interview just perfect.

  4. TOS theme lyrics: "Beyond The rim of the star-light My love Is wand'ring in star-flight I know He'll find in star-clustered reaches Love, Strange love a star woman teaches. I know His journey ends never His star trek Will go on forever. But tell him While he wanders his starry sea Remember, remember me."

  5. There's a mic picking up a lot of background noise – either someone typing or tapping on a desk/table or a wobbly mic mount. Can hear this throughout the podcast and it's quite distracting.

  6. Something I've always wanted to ask Michael Dorn And that is did you play wolf In one of the original series movies also or was it a different Klingon character that you played Whenever you played the character of the lawyer For captain Kirk and bones

  7. Movies that have had people doing blackface have had some good things like tropical thunder with Robert Downey jr. Doing blackface but then again everybody said it was all right at that point with him because they know that he's not taking it the way everybody else is

  8. As an actor I can’t get enough of this show. I already love hearing actors talk with other actors when its Star Trek alum it’s a plus. Also hearing Michael D talk about about the lotion on ST Picard was hilarious 🀣🀣🀣

  9. Given we revisited Code of Honour, and bearing in mind what Denise said about her "opponent" injuring her hand, I would be interested to know if that injury influenced the design of that weird glove like weapon used during the combat. I would have posted this on the previous episode but my comment there is already overly long.

  10. as a life long Trek fan , I want to say that I love this pod cast. I'm a photographer who loves "cosplay photography" and before covid i went to a Star trek cosplay day at a local studio where four of the guys played the classic captains and one of the girls played Janeway and we found we were all trek geeks. we spent more time discussing the respective series than taking photos lol. By the end of the day, we all collectively agreed our favourite series in all of Trek was Enterprise. I absolutely adored that show and had it been on a syndicated station they would never have cancelled it. My only dismay with the series was "that" holodeck episode which was a Bobby ewing in the shower episode. The series deserved a better ending in my view. Id have loved another season and seen what the referb of the enterprise would have looked like and Jeffrey Coombes fully intergrated as full time cast member as Shran. still cant believe they killed Connor's character trip off twice in the same series. thanks for a great nostalgia trip. Live long and prosper guysπŸ––

  11. Dominic keep talking Over those he is interviewing – Can someone tell him to Stop? It is rude and makes those people change what they were saying, to the point that they don't finish their thoughts and even worse, they change topics to start on another thought as if they want to say something where they can finish his thought without being interrupted.
