  1. Got to admire Ford UK on the Transit it being somewhat better equipped than some cars brand new in Europe, having a brake servo and discs when non servo drums could still be found on cars. Seat belts was another early adoption by Ford as was the alternator as standard, again you could buy a brand new car with only a dynamo and seat belts was considered back then an option on some marques. The MK1 Transit changed the truck scene worldwide, suddenly you had a vehicle that used a lot of Ford car parts, it drove and handled like a car and had this inbuilt ruggedness other truck makers found hard to match and the Yorkie's were the darling of commercial and domestic owners as many camper and minibus owners opted for the York engine in a time when diesel was really used in lorries but for a camper owner a vehicle that could cruise at 70 all day long with a fuel economy way higher than a V4 petrol option was very attractive esp as diesel prices were half that of petrol back in the day. Also the MK1 was the darling of the bank robber, there was articles about how MK1 Transits retrofitted with Ford Essex 3.0 V6's left police in the dust making them the ideal getaway vehicle until police finally took on their own game changer the MK1 Ford Granada 3.0, which became an absolute transformation from the wallowy Triumph 2.5PI's and Rover 3500 V8 P6's which were great as straight line cars but handled atrociously on corners, the Granada however was so effective that it changed the potential 25% with a bit of luck capture rate of criminals to a 75% or better capture rate with the Granada.

  3. How on earth did it end up with German plates from Gummersbach?

If you decide to keep this I'd definitely like to see something close to the stock exhaust system back on but it's your vehicle, your decision.

  4. Auto doc still have wheel cylinders and the master cylinder and some other parts there based in Germany. Am sure you can probably still get other parts over here. Am in the Highlands of Scotland. There was one up here still driving around not sure if its still here. I suppose it depends on how far you wanted to go with it. 😊🤙🤙

  5. That injector pump has a cold start on it it is located on the stop lever with the black rubber around it, push it on the end it gives it more fuel to start it when you push it you will hear it click.the mk1 transit diesel first came out with a perkins 4108 engine.
