Christopher and Charlie, a British couple from London, UK, shocked everyone when they decided to quit their corporate jobs in London to take over a hotel in Koh Lanta, a tropical island in Thailand, that has been abandoned since covid.

Can they turn this construction site into a beautiful beach resort?
Is their relationship solid enough?
And how much does this all must cost?

Many people dream to start a small resort on a tropical island in Thailand but only a few do it. Why did they decide to do it? What are the difficulties along the way? And the cost?

Follow this lovely coupleโ€™s journey in a sincere and inspiring interview.

  1. Wow! What a seemingly overwhelming project they took on. They are so brave. Very inspiring. I wish them much success with their business and life in Thailand. Follow your bliss. ๐Ÿงก๐Ÿ’›

  2. Very brave to invest so much into a business that will never be 100% yours, leasing land from the Thai partner and owner of the land Chanote.
Foreigners cannot freehold land in Thailand.

  3. A young couple following their dream, what's not to like about that? Hopefully, their story gains traction and is a boon towards the business. Clearly, there's risk involved (as there is for all investments), but the biggest reason that people fail is simply by never even starting. Chok dee khap.

  4. I've been living full time in Thailand for 20 years, and still debating the type of business and location to invest in with my Thai partner. Still doing neccessary "sums" "challenges of seasons" "ROI". Best of luck to newbies rushing in like fools.

  5. There is a 50% chance the landlord will kick them out once everything is fixed and ready to go. Lovely Thai people only applies to the poorer people, the rich Thais are some of the worst.

  7. And I believe there is nothing more fulfilling than building up with your own hands from scratch! See so many young couples do! A friend of mine in Kenia, no running water, no electricity, and now she runs a Beautiful farm with 80 staffmembers and in this way providing work to locals and with educational projects for the kids from school!
