  1. i was soo on board with hassans rant until he said he wanted engine noise speakers.
I dont mind EVs but how do you not just feel phoney when your playing ICE noises out the back of it. 😒

Ill contribute to the environment by never in my life buying new. Ill always buy 90's-2014 performance vehicles.

  2. This is actually what the majority want. Retro is the way to go. None of these dangerous distractions from the screens. Analog everything. Cut down on the amount of chips required. We just need electric engines, not these extra things that balloon the price of cars. We need affordable EVs, not what's being offered.

  3. The main problem with EV's is that they're still just cars. They have very minor improvements in waste/pollution and some little comforts, and there's still this cave-man resistance to the technology that results in difficulty with access to charging stations (but if like Hasan you own your own home, you can almost always just charge it at home). And yes, the advancements in tech means that in our capitalist system, the models keep losing their value quicker. But maintenance is minimal, a lot of extraneous upkeep costs don't exist or are like 99% less expensive. Which is nice.

The body shapes are often really dumb looking. However, boxy isn't the way to go either. I've got an EV that just looks like a regular modern day non-ev car. A little hatchback, but it can easily seat 5 people, and it doesn't have a ton of things that break on it like Tesla's do, and it's not a deathtrap like the Tesla Truck (I prefer that name, actually). But the manufacturers could definitely pull back on the prototype-car look that is always goofy and incorporate some styles of older designs. And something like a station wagon or minivan would be a good way to go. SUVs are trash, and the big trucks that are currently popular are even worse.

But ultimately these are still just cars with 90% of all the same problems as gas cars and one or two extras. Reinstating public transit — the kind we used to have a century ago — that is reliable and efficient and generally makes life better for the residents of cities and towns where it exists is what we should be doing. Make so that I don't have to have a car. I'd love to do away with that expense. Have intra-city trams and intercity trains. Some more rural-ish areas could have buses (and where there is traffic, give them dedicated lanes, which would make them quicker than the traffic and make them the superior option). And actually rural country areas could still have individual cars as it would make sense for those individuals. BUT, even there, it would be ideal to still have something like train stations at any major hubs such as the local post office (provided the post office isn't entirely deleted in the next couple years).

  4. Whether you lease or buy a car you're just burning the money regardless. So the depreciating asset is mostly a nonissue. Though don't buy an EV until the tech is solidified at least
