I just love how the woke left is eating itself over their own conundrum. They had to bring in a black character into a scenario where he obviously doesn't belong, logically and historically. But they also hate masculinity and traditional, hetero relationships so they have to make him gay too.

Yasuke, a historical figure:
Yasuke is a historical figure who lived in Japan in the 16th century. He was born on an unknown date, but there are some written sources from Europeans and Japanese.
He arrived in Japan in 1579 with black slaves and Jesuit priests. Yasuke's life in Japan Yasuke caught the attention of Japanese military governor Nobunaga in 1581. Nobunaga was impressed by Yasuke's physical strength and height (about 1.90 m). Yasuke was given a house, a sword, and was appointed Nobunaga's weapon bearer. He became a direct vassal of Nobunaga (atamoto) and joined his close entourage.
The Battle of Toriibata and Yasuke's end:
Yasuke participated in the Battle of Toriibata in 1582, where Nobunaga destroyed a rival clan. After Nobunaga's betrayal by one of his generals, Yasuke fought against the general's vassals and was captured. He disappeared after that, and his fate is unknown.
The question of samurai status:
Historical sources do not define Yasuke as a samurai. The samurai status was not yet established in the 16th century. Yasuke may have had the status of a fighter, but it is unclear if he was a professional warrior. It is possible that Yasuke was a trophy used by Nobunaga to impress his contemporaries or that he played a role in Nobunaga's close guard.

As for me, until recently I was still a supporter (a small one, but a supporter nonetheless since I bought most of their games). Today I purely and simply boycott, and it will remain so as long as Ubisoft does anything other than entertainment through video games.
The saddest part about this is it still gonna be top 3 most sold game of the year. And gaming content creator who are outraged about a black samurai are the first to pre order the most expensive version just for the content and they will always hide behind “it’s my job” even though they could just use screenshots and videos without buying and supporting that shit

I get the outrage,but it only a problem when a American company does it,Let's be clear he has appeared as a Samurai throughout Japanese media for years,even has a Character in the Samurai warriors and Nioh games both Japanese companies,I'm also on the line of history is vague for him allowing for creative liberty,is why he makes a great character template for a outsider even without being a Samurai,I know nothing of politics how ever I do know this was not a issue till somone made it a issue for this game,not to mention there are Japanese children's books with him featured all they way back to 1960s from Kurusu Yoshino,In the case of title he was Bushi,but as far being a Samurai that is more undetermined given that term was not in usage in that way during that period,by accounts he would be considered a high ranking bodygaurd since he had the role of weapon retainer such as the 2nd Unifiers sandle holder role,where he then became promoted an was allowto start a clan,to summarize it is more of a maybe than a yes or no,I am no historian however I am a Information Scientist from what I crossed that is the most likely conclusion since most of his time after his Lord's death is vague,the closest clue is that someone of his likeness was mentioned at the battle against Akechi Mitsuhide,I believe the outrage is blown out of proportion and people needed something trival to argue about.
