  1. Hi Seb 🙂
I would give a few counter arguments to think about, just because I enjoy bouncing things off you.
Starting with something mentioned. In theory the moon and a rescue is about 6+ days for an emergency if they need to come home, which is most likely too long for the majority of emergencies. In practice it would likely take a couple weeks to do so since the only vehicle that can do so is starship and thats only with the assumption they happen to have another fully built moonship ready at that time.
I think you gave too many reasons to not find Mars to be a far better option, risks be damned for the potential rewards lol.

But I think there is one thing that matters more than anything. There is only one single person on all of Earth that will actually take us to Mars, there are a million that could be convinced to take us back to the Moon, Its one tiny window to make it happen before hes gone. Then it may be another 100+ years before someone else has the balls to even try.
To be honest, i think postponing Mars for any amount of time has a reasonable chance of shattering it. Just one decade could easily collapse the entire possibility. We dont just need to show up on Mars, we need to be established before that window is closed.

How are things my friend? I have been enjoying your Roman series, its not as deep in my soul as spaceflight ill admit, but still fascinating. Hope things are going smoothly for you guys.

  2. Its gunna be one hell of a benefit for all sorts of space work to have a solid station and manufacturing on the Moon and its orbit. I think you are spot on about NASA compared to Chinas future on the Moon. One has almost no drive/backing to do so while the other has enough ambition to do so they could almost just walk there…

  3. My belief is that space exploration requires a financial motivation, which could mean mining scarce minerals, or fabricating items that cannot be made on earth, perhaps due to radiation or toxicity. Mars colonisation has always struck me as nonsensical. The planet has as good as no atmosphere, escaping its gravity is not easy, the soil is toxic, and it is very far away.

  4. I posted on an elon musk group on facebook years ago, about building a base on the moon first before going to mars because it would be easier to test and setup and rescue people. We could perfect the structures and use the moon as a launching point to mars. But they called me stupid and kicked me from the facebook group. LMAO…

  5. Elon wants to establish a civilization, not a base. Also, the 26-month timespan between available transfer orbits means that Mars has a better chance of developing without interference from Earth. So the distance is a feature, not a bug.

  6. Thank you, Sebastian. I doubt that China will get to the Moon sooner than NASA. You've got to make a new spacecraft operational and it takes too many years. Of course, it's not a reason to slow down and relax. Moon, Mars, and beyond await us.

  7. I think the moon is a dead end. It would be more cost effective to mine Phobos and Deimos for propellant and deliver that prop to LEO than it would be from the moon. Phobos is essentially a naturally occurring, low orbit fuel depot. All the oxygen you'd ever need plus decent carbon content (2% to 5%). There many even be some hydration further in. This alone, in my opinion, is reason enough to choose mars over the moon and we haven't even gotten to the planet yet.

  8. ELON states of his autistic that means his brother's probably has it It runs in the family is Focus will be on Mars he's like a dog with a fox Elan will not let go of the scent of Mars it's not intelligence it's just autism and his brother wouldn't let go greenhouse and Mars. This is great for humanity. This project but we most remembered other of his projects is totally based on ego not logic. Remember he is Autistc.

  9. If I were Elon, I'd ditch Twitter (X) and push for both the Moon & Mars. They shouldn't be mutually exclusive. It seems like SpaceX is pushing hard to get Starship to orbit but isn't very concerned about building a human rated Starship. I think getting a metal ship to Mars will be easier than accommodating humans on a round trip.

  10. Musk wants to create peace on Earth. That is the real reason for Mars. If we send all the "hmmhmm" to Mars, we will get peace on earth. They own the banks, media, and large Western corporations. In fact, 400 families own over 50% of all world assets. By sending them to Mars we can split those assets on earth and solve hunger, unemployment, healthcare, and education. All those problems only exist since people are mentally ill because of inbreeding and their religion where it is stated the more gold you have, the closer to God you will sit. Musk is trying to help us by sending these people to Mars. To keep them calm, we will send the money printers to mars so they can make how much money the want.

  11. only 12 people have been on the moon and that was 52 -55 years ago. I am not sure if our wimpy and spoiled generation-Z guys would be able to do the same in the late 2020ies. They might demand more work-life balance during the moon mission 😥😂

  12. apart from the relatively short distance , there are some other practical advantages on the Moon for a permanent habitat:
On the lunar poles, there a places where you continuously receive sunlight with a few short interruptions only, with an intensity of 1370W/m2
On Mars even on the Equator the highest intensity of solar radiation only is 500W/m2, interrupted 12,2 hours at night and reduced to 30% during dust storms. Therefore it is much easier to produce electricity from photovoltaik panels and to produce food in greenhouses.

On the lunar poles water ice is relatively easily available, close to the ideal locations for a habitat.

And in the lunar vacuum there is no heat transmission or heat conduction just radiation. Und these conditions, just a few centimetres of loose regolith form a very efficient heat insulation. Mars has an atmosphere ,so it takes more effort to protect from cold.

The advantage of Mars is, that it is abundant with carbon in the atmosphere and the regolith contains more nutrients that can be used for agriculture

  13. I would not mind if the Chinese were the first to build a base on the Moon, I would congratulate and just be happy about any nation or company making the effort and finally successfully gets it done .
As a citizen of Austria and Europe, I have no reason to carry patriotism into space. Our governments have decided not to take a leading role in space exploration anyway.

  14. How the hell do you keep turning up with 45k subs? Did you buy your old channel back again? Did you buy bots? What happened to your "history" channel? Where's your wife? So now you think the moon is good? That's a change from the "2 the future" days. Ah well, good luck I guess. At least you're trying, which is more than most do.

  15. Take a look NASA & ASEE "Advanced Automation for Space Missions" (1980 wrote, 1982 published), — we should do minimal closed robotics economy on the Moon — minimal Tesla factory for producing universal humanoid robots.

This is the best way for Humanity expansion in Space
