Elon Musk revealed new cargo starship to win US military contract

Finally, a big important deal has come to light, and if everything goes according to plan, it might just change the cargo transport sector completely.
Because as it turns out, SpaceX has won a $102 million five-year contract from US Air Force to help transport military cargo and humanitarian aid around the world using a heavy rocket. This is the largest contract awarded to date for rocket cargo, and they certainly have compelling reasons to choose SpaceX.
So, how much can the new cargo Starship carry, and how will SpaceX deploy it for cargo transport?

Welcome back to the Alpha tech. We’d also like to take the time to thank you for your continued support of our channel.
Now, let’s take a seat and we will expose all about this topic in today’s episode:

Whether you’re shipping personal possessions, business products, or whatever, you expect your shipment to arrive quickly, at the cheapest price, and without a hitch.
From the very beginning, the need to transport goods appeared with the most rudimentary tools. Gradually, over time, the forms of transportation have also increasingly diversified.
Especially, international trade is now the driving motivator behind advancements in global transportation. As new inventions and discoveries were applied, travel time decreased while the ability to move more and larger loads increased. Innovation continues as transport researchers are working to find new ways to reduce costs and increase transport efficiency.

The need to move cargo, however, is not limited to the earth. For example, SpaceX shipped cargo to the International Space Station for NASA! And now they’ve gone on to win an important contract.
The Pentagon is interested in being able to deliver cargo anywhere in the world in order to support humanitarian aid.
In the middle of last year, The U.S. military expanded a small development program that wants to leverage reusable rockets, to deliver cargo quickly to anywhere in the world. The experimental program, called Rocket Cargo, is led by the U.S. Space Force.

The program involves developing the capability to rapidly send cargo anywhere in the world on a rocket, which would involve reusable rockets that can perform propulsive landings on a variety of landing sites to deliver a C-17’s worth of cargo in an hour.

Well, do you realize this is similar to something Musk already has planned?

Back in 2017 before the first Starship prototype was even commissioned, Elon Musk revealed his plans, or rather, his dream of earth-to-earth rocket transport. At the International Astronautical Congress, Elon Musk showcased a demo of a future in which Starship rockets will be able to transport passengers from London to New York in 29 minutes.

  1. It's a good idea, but where would you land it?
It's not like you can just land it on some grass, in the middle of a field.

    Especially for humanitarian mission.
If a country has been deviated by a natural disaster.
Then its unlikely they would be able use the landing pad.

Considering that the majority of countries that suffer from natural disasters. Are normally the poor countries.
It makes it even less likely that they would have a landing pad in their country.

I honestly don't think this is for humanitarian missions.
It will most likely be used for the American military to move high value equipment around the world 😉

  2. Transporting 100T anywhere in the world is going to be much easier than getting the Starship back.
Understand that Starship is a “prototype” not the finished product like Falcon 9. Landing gear for unimproved locations may be an add-on, but how do you get it back is the real problem.

  3. The only thing going for this is that it forces Musk to a) build landing sites all over the planet, or b) equip Starship with legs – which it has always needed.

And once it has landed, how does it take off again, considering it needs 1000+ tons of cryogenic propellants to go anywhere? The problems with this ‘idea’ are essentially endless.

  4. Has anybody seen the landing gear on the Starships Upper stage yet ? Those "drop down" folding legs on the SS prototypes (used to test the "flip" maneuver & "flaps" during decent) were purely sacrificial by design and Not ment to withstand a Fully Loaded SS landing.

  5. OK ——– Rocket Cargo sounds Great… Only Space X needs to make one slight alteration to Starship… Instead of Trying to Twist the Starship around Tail First at the Last micro second after Belley Flopping down through the Atmosphere to Slow Down,,, Cargo Starship needs to land on its Belly and 4 widely spaced landing pads using smaller Raptor Engines in pods or fairings on each side of its Shoulders just aft of Cargo Starship's bow… Landing on Cargo Starship's Belley saves Wasting fuel turning Tail First as it lands making landing safer while Placing the Cargo section close to the Ground where Cargo can be Easily driven off to the sides of the Cargo Starship…!!! Landing Cargo Starship on its Belley also increases the places it can land in undeveloped War torn or Desaster locations including Rough Terrain in a simple open field without worrying about topling in Soft Ground… This makes taking the empty light Cargo Starship off again with minimum Propellent a matter of lifting off without digging one huge crater in the soft ground and simply lifting the nose higher as it raises up into the air rotating its Belley thrusting engines to the stern while accelerating to make a Short Hop toward the nearest Starship World Crossing Space Port or Sea Platform a few hundred or a thousand miles away to be mounted on a Booster to be sent Back to its take off location on the other side of the World Folly Loaded with Return Cargo…
———–. Cargo Starship after delivering a Hundred pluss tons of cargo to a Battlefield or Desaster location could then be able to Transport a hundred casualties or refugees to the Nearest Safe area a few hundred miles away at any International Airport landing on any short section of the 150 foot wide Runway or Taxi-way or Large Parking lot near a Hospital… Where the Cargo Starship could then be refueled to Hop to the Nearest Space X Global Launch Facility…

  6. Wow, Elon will own the world, delivering goods anywhere in space or on the planet for only $9 per lb. Musk is 95% BS, but the fan boys lap it up and invest. Pump away fanboys.

  7. When I was a kid I read a book called the big book of space by Usborne Hayes in it was a single stage craft designed to move troops and cargo around the world. Looks like it's going to come true

  8. Musk signed a deal with the Department Intelligence Legal Defense Organization (D. I. L. D. O.) .It's a deal for two types a white type S and a black type L. Both types of D. I. L. D. O. are meant to penetrate defense mechanisms of the opposition. The build time will be approximately nine months. 😉😁

  9. Starship will not be able to compete with new Glenn because New Glen with the be4 engine is much more powerful. It will also be finished and doing missions way before Starship. I don't know why people just can't understand that. Starship has regular horsepower while New Glenn has Newton horsepower, which is much more high tech, and it's basically 3 to 1 over 🐴. Most of you guys don't have the technical knowledge to understand how that works.

  10. Humanitarian aid😂😂😂😂😂, is that how they are spinning it, more like tactical logistical support. And £100,000000 is not a huge contract, it's a tiny investment in the rocket game🤣
