to land on Mars is the Perseverance, accompanied by a small helicopter named

While you watch this video, there is an autonomous vehicle trudging along millions of
miles away on planet Mars. Its name is Perseverance, and it costs a cool 2.7 billion
dollars, much more than any vehicle you might see on the road today!
Why did NASA spend so much money on Perseverance? For years, NASA’s Mars
Exploration Program has been systematically trying to find out whether life ever existed
on Mars! The agency’s Spirit and Opportunity rovers showed that liquid water once
existed on the surface. Building on that discovery, NASA’s Curiosity rover found
conditions on Mars around 4 billion years ago that could have supported life as we know
it. Now, Perseverance will directly search for signs of past life.
Perseverance launched on July 30th, 2020, amidst the challenges and chaos of the
global COVID-19 pandemic. It landed on February 18th, 2021, in the Jezero crater, the
site of an ancient lake and river delta, during a seven minutes of terror as mission
controllers could not direct the process in real-time.
At the crater, the rover will search for microbial fossils in rocks formed in Mars’ warm,
wet past. It will also look for carbon-containing molecules called organics that form the
building blocks of life on Earth. Not since 1976 has NASA directly searched for life on
Mars when the dual Viking landers performed long-shot chemistry experiments that
turned up inconclusive results

If anyone wonder's why you keep seeing "First" on nearly all YouTube videos what they are doing is making the useless claim of “Hey, I was first to comment on this post!” Which is stupid, because that is not a comment on the video, it is a narcissistic statement of your own accomplishments; one that really no one else cares about.

    But, for whatever reason, people have sort of “gamified” this objective of having the first comment on a post—even if all they have to say is ‘first!’.

  31. Unfortunately, we have already shown that we can’t take care of ourselves and the planet we live on, let alone going to another planet and insist we do it all over again. If we can’t get together over climate change here, how will that ever change…..remember, we always insist that we are the”voice of reason” (not) and we will want things to work the way we “expect” things to. And what about radiation damage to our bodies? I just don’t think we could ever be “ready”.

It would be interesting to find out one day that we, the human race, may have originated on Mars (maybe) and nuclear war destroyed the face of the planet, leaving it the order it is in now.. then we are about to do the same Damn thing here on Earth, so we are trying to go back to Mars. Wouldn't that be an interesting twist in psychology for us to try to grasp and accept. : )
