This is due to the fact that there exists an asteroid that contains diamonds, gold, and other precious metals. Likewise, the asteroid belt between Mars and Jupiter has thousands of them. Diamonds have been the gift of choice for many people for a very long time; nevertheless, for a period of time, it was believed that these exceptionally gorgeous stones could only be found on the planet. However, in 2012, a very significant discovery brought about a change in all of that. The discovery of crystallized carbon was made by Travis Metcalfe and a group of researchers working at the Harvard-Smithsonian Centre for Astrophysics in the United States. The discovery was made approximately fifty light years away from Earth.

Most people are aware that a diamond is formed by crystallized carbon; however, this particular stone is not your typical gem. Instead, it weighs around 10 billion trillion trillion carats, which is equivalent to approximately 5 million trillion trillion pounds. Only 530 carats is the size of the largest diamond on the planet. It is known as the Star of Africa, and it was originally carved from a stone that weighed 3,100 carats to begin with. This stone is still significantly smaller than what is found in space.

Within the scope of the Artemis program, a drill is scheduled to be launched to the surface of the Moon by a rocket operated by SpaceX in the early part of next year that is to come. An asteroid, which will take approximately nine months to reach, according to Forbes, will be the destination of a smaller spaceship that will be traveling alongside that rocket.

Astroforge, a business based in California, is in the process of developing this spacecraft, which is being referred to as Brokkr-2. The company’s objective is to make space mining for commercial purposes.

Just two months ago, the corporation successfully carried out a test firing of the rockets that would be used to carry the spaceship to its farthest destination. This important milestone is a step that must be taken before the spacecraft is integrated with the rocket in preparation for the launch the following year. In the event that all goes according to plan, it would be the very first time that a commercial firm has undertaken a space mission that extends beyond Earth and the Moon.

“The fact that we did not show you a picture of a fireball and that everything went on without a hitch is evidence that we were successful in passing past that gate. At this point in time, we are in an excellent position to attempt to launch the first commercial deep space mission in the history of the planet. In an interview with Forbes, Astroforge co-founder and CEO Matt Gialich said.
