Elon Musk Just Announced the Launch of an Orbital Starship! Mars Here We Come
=======================================
He previously remarked that orbital refueling is crucial for transporting significant tonnage to both Mars
and the Moon. This assertion holds true, particularly when we consider the distinctive attributes of Starship.
Due to its impressive size and powerful thrust, it is capable of transporting substantial payloads.
The future Starship is engineered to accommodate over 200 tons of payload, capable of transporting 100 individuals.
Moreover, it has the capacity to return numerous tons of samples, surpassing the limitations of transporting merely a few kilograms.
These are capabilities unmatched by any other rocket.
However, this will come at the expense of significant fuel consumption.
For instance, during its voyage to the Moon, Starship will require a substantial amount of fuel not only for its descent but also for its subsequent ascent.
This vital necessity underscores the importance of efficient fuel management in space exploration. This may also encompass the journey back to Earth.
In the case of the Mars mission, which will involve a minimum distance of approximately 62.07 million kilometers, a significant amount of fuel will be required for various processes, similar to those needed for lunar missions.
This challenge will be particularly pronounced during the initial missions, as SpaceX will not have the capability to produce fuel directly on Mars right away. At present, it is evident that SpaceX is navigating in the right direction.
Following recent successes, SpaceX is poised to take a significant step early next year: the capture of its ship, ushering in a new era of complete reusability.
This pivotal advancement promises to redefine the future of space exploration. Once they take this initial step, they will embark on the crucial development of the refilling system.
The significance of Flight 5 was notably highlighted during the International Astronautical Congress of 2024.
Its impact on the future of space exploration was a focal point of discussion. According to numerous comments, this serves as a crucial foundation for SpaceX to develop the refueling system and manufacture the Starship Human Landing System (HLS), both of which are vital components for Artemis III.
NASA Administrator Bill Nelson offered some commendations.

OK———-. A 4th and better way to transfer fuel is to clamp the side-by-side ships solidly together and then use their side thrusters to spin them slowly around each other giving the full source tank a small centrifugal force to pump or pressure feed (without bubbles) the fuel to the receiving ship. This would save much fuel over continuous thrusting while making it possible to transfer as much fuel as needed with accurate measurements to the pound (from the ships' wobble and measured volume) of fuel transferred and fuel left in the pumping supply ship for returning to Earth. Measuring accurate amounts of fuel volume that is full of vaper bubbles is impossible from simple pressure transfer in zero Gee no matter how much pressure is used inside the tanks with Unmeasurable amounts of bubbles of fuel always left behind and in the receiving tank. Fact is Zero Gee fuel Vapore transfer will always restrict the total amount of fuel that can be transferred or left behind from 10% to as much as 50% with no way of telling accurately just how much fuel is in EITHER tank.
Let's do it but I thought we should have did it a long time ago if we hadn't been fighting with each other and fighting over land we would pass should have been born in space not here we're running late I can't wait to see him land on Mars
Just say it…. SpaceX IS the LEADER, in AREO!!
lets do it
If the Star shop need ew fulling in orbit to go to the Moon, we need more than time to reach Mars. I don't have any dought that SpaceX Wil figured it out.
Different types of star ship tankers will be built with extra large tanks and a heat shield. then space ships that only fly to mars with fuel. then mars landing ships with building materials. then mars landing ships with crew. and earth moon ships that can land on the moon. so i see about 6 different ships being built.
It needs to be as easy as dialling an SpaceX Uber to Mars ..see you at the Mars Bar for drinks
Let's do it!
refueling in space will be a challenge keeping it cold for long periods of time but they will do it the team of engineers working under musk are amazing
i dont think the FAA is going t be a problem any more after listning to the FAA chief getting grilled by congressman about 'undue scrutiny' of SpaceX
When President Trump takes office, he should appoint Elon Musk in charge of the FAA. This way we know all space ship launches will happen on time
Bad cgi
Who would like to chime on which of these "Multiplanets" , that we are suppose to be species on?
Any company or government agency who tries to hinder the SpaceX work is self-centered, jealous, and very closed-minded and obviously doesn't want humans in space. SpaceX is not even hiding how they do anything, they want to be copied.
