  1. None of the probes sent to Venus have lasted longer than a few minutes? Venera 13 lasted 127 minutes.

There's people with space-related channels that love space and know a lot about it, and then there's the people that don't care much for it or know all that much about it but create space-related channels and content because they know it's a popular subject. A true spacenut that loved space would have known that "none of our probes sent there have been able to survive more than a few minutes" was a false statement. So, between the two, this guy is clearly the second option that doesn't know, doesn't care, and just runs this type of channel because of how popular — and profitable — they can become.

  2. Certainly, making humanity a multi-planetary species makes sense on many fronts including one of security.

That said, we can use the tech we develop on Mars to help heal the ecology of Earth. It's a win-win. Also, medical advances we need to develop on Mars and during our travels there will alsp benefit humans back on Earth. I suspect we will see habitats built into the various large caves on Mars with domes protecting its habitants. Those caves will also protect us from radiation.

That said, I'd take anything Musk says with a large grain of salt

  3. One of the biggest obstacles to a large Mars colony is that you need only one nutcase, or one disgruntled person or terrorist, and the whole colony could be vulnerable to destruction. Somehow, redundancy would need to be built in — kind of like watertight compartments in a ship. If one compartment is punctured, the whole ship does not flood and sink. But I don't know if one could build in sufficient redundancy in such a hostile, deadly environment as Mars.

  4. Food will be laboratory sourced, that'll be first passengers, alongside construction inclusive, medical, all military trained.
Science would have completed 70% of their study, from Earth at this point.
A Colony of 300, rotational staff, 3yrs on 6mnths off..
    Stage 1..
