Elementary school students pay homage to the local Kumeyaay Tribe through on-campus mural



A group of 5th graders at Valley Elementary School in Poway, California, partnered with ArtReach San Diego to paint a mural on their campus that celebrates their community and the Kumeyaay Tribe, whose Native land the school sits on.

  1. This looks like a wonderful project to recognize the original People of the land while providing education & insight to all involved. Did the district or any of the organizers reach out to the Natives in the area to be included? Often Land Acknowledgements & projects disregard Indigenous People are still here.
