Elden Ring Wretch is a Scam for Brand New Players…

The starter class choice in Elden Ring may be a make or break moment for new players to Elden Ring, or souls games in general. One choice always available is the Level 1 character, in Elden Ring it is the Wretch. But under what circumstances should you play the Wretch (level 1 run), and should a new player consider the Wretch on their first playthrough. The short answer is I wouldn’t recommend it, the long answer is this video.

  1. Dude i think the whole armor argument makes little sense when literally the first enemies, the knights in Limgrave drop their gear…(the streams already confim that) so even when playing wretch you are equipped almost from the start of the game.

  2. The absolute best build is ignorant noob. Hear me out. Don't watch build videos or how to videos. I picked up Dark Souls around 2013 at a used game store without hearing about it or knowing anything other than the cover looked cool and when I noticed the From Software logo I needed to buy it. I had played many of their previous games like Echo Night Beyond, Shadow Tower, Armored Core, Cookies & Cream etc… I had learned to always buy From Software games. They were always interesting seemingly low budget and strangely well made. Played the offline unpatched Xbox 360 version. Took me 3 years to finish the game. I found nearly every item and secret area all by myself. I took my time exploring and discovering. After new game plus, I started looking up information to see what I missed. That's when I learned about the online community and the builds and the pvp and it sucked all the joy out of me. I wish I could unlearn my souls game knowledge and experience Elden Ring as a totally ignorant noob again. I'm envious of all the new players and their lack of experience. It's the best. You don't want to ruin it.

  3. pfff, new players can go and pick wretch if they want. They might just struggle with the tutorial section a bit just until they get to the first bonfire, get a few level ups with the souls they've gathered thus far but then it's smooth sailing from there. The build freedom that wretch provides is too good to pass up

  4. I saw so many comments lately that people will start with the wretch and I think it's because of that one popular YouTube video. The guy said thinks like it's the best experience for the first run. People who start with the wretch for the first time as a new player will most likely quit the game after getting extremely frustrated lol. The video was misleading imo.

  5. I just feel like anyone who looks at all the characters available, picks the naked one then is surprised its made things harder really isn't cut out for hard games. For experienced players who love souls games for the exploration and character progression the wretch seems unquestionably better for a first playthrough

  6. While it may have the most challenging start, the Wretch is also mathematically the best class regardless of what type of build you have in mind, so it is rewarding in the end. Its also worth noting that you only get your first playthrough once, if you really want to maximize the challenge you only have one opportunity to start the game both blind and naked. Going with Wretch your second time through won't be the same.

  7. I'm commenting cuz I'm one of the people targeting I've never played any of the dark souls game and I want to play the wretch character since I missed out on the other games I want this game to be hard, I want it to be a challenge. And I think if I manage to pull through it all I'll feel that I actually earned everything that I got starting from nothing to gain more that's the perfect hero's journey.

  8. You can farm up armor and weapons early game like you said. End of the video in my opinion haha I've never played a souls game but I'm going to stick with wretch because this game from what I've seen from every review is insanely massive and I'm going to take my time, as in 100s of hours on my first playthrough lol enjoying everything

  9. Wretch makes you appreciate drops and new armor/weapons more than any other class, so long as you go into the game completely blind. Having a set build beforehand limits your willingness to try out new stuff that drops as you already have a defined build to start with. Let's say you pick a magic user and suddenly instead find a beefy miracle you want to use instead? Even with a respec the the stats are usually balanced so that you have several 'dead points' in Int and lag behind 5-6 points in faith. Deprived (or Wretch in this game), avoids that by having every stat be a flat 10 from the getgo. However, starting with mediocre stats across the board, no armor, a pretty lackluster weapon and a next to useless shield, does undoubtedly make the first 30-120 minutes alot tougher. After that though, the complete freedom to 180 your build along a different path once you find a respecer, makes it perfect for that first "I have no clue where or what anything is and want to try everything without feeling set back later for doing it" experience.

  10. You can only get the most out of a wretch if you play it your first run. It makes you play where you’re constantly using everything you find because you need it. The other classes start off with want you need and you’ll probably only change equipment if it fits the build. Also first time regardless you won’t know where all the goods are, but as a wretch if it’s not you’re first time you’ll go straight to the power to make it “easier”

  11. What the Wretch gives you if you are not a min-max munchkin is satisfaction. The satisfaction of picking up that shitty piece of rag that dropped from a random trash enemy and it actually being an upgrade, the feeling of accomplishment of working up from the lowest of the low the weakest of the weak. A clean slate without to much bias as to what you are supposed to do or how to play, that satisfaction i dare say is freedom.

  12. Idk about you guys but I’m definitely going Wretch. Y’all are casuals and are thinking too much about what you start out with. All because you start out with a strength based weapon doesn’t mean you HAVEEEE to increase STR…. That’s the price you pay to build a beast. I’ll be going Faith, INT for my attack on my Wretch. Have fun choosing your level 8+ character solely because it starts out with +6 more of a stat and a standard weapon and clothes to fit its name lol

  13. Never played Dark souls, but finished demon souls remastered and Niohs, I will play as Wretch. Simply because I always ended up putting the worst but lightest armour on to be faster and more manoeuverable and usually while playing game I can see what skills I'm lacking and level up exactly what I need.

  14. After watching this video I will be playing wretch. wretch isn't about "optimizing" and "numbers" (fake), it's about being a based unga bunga club-pilled gigachad. I will be enjoying my time crawling through the muck in the nude while making use of every item God gives me like a true gamer goblin while you scum runts will be calculating how much dick per second (DPS) you can take if you min max your testosterone:estrogen ratio in your ""astrology"" build. mfers be like I lost to a boss because Mercury is in retrograde tonight.
