If you look back sometimes as you go through the area you can see Gostoc watching you and even talk to him. Then If you Kill Gostoc before the boss you get all of the runes back he stole from you.
I'm losing around 30 percent of my runes every time I die and I've even beaten Godrick and it's still happening
Had 15k and wondered why when I got back there was only 10k

I went ahead of the video, and remembered from previous vids Cowboy says "Don't murder NPCs" … this episode …. murders 2 NPCs … am I stuffed for anything important by NOT killing Dad and the Gate Dude???
Yeah the gate dude def steals a % of all your runes after you die. He had 28k of mine by the time I figured it out and killed him

I had 60k runes and I was only able to retrieve 42k. I killed him and got the 18k back. I did this test on NG+. Kill him immediately, if you wait until the boss before killing him you will not retrieve the lost runes. I lost so much runes on this area on my first playthrough because I didn't know.
In your let's play, the souls were disappearing. It works when you die. If you drop 1000 souls when you die, when you'll go pick them up you'll only pick up like 700 since he takes 30% i think.
for the birds on the rampart you can shoot the barrels with a flame arrow and it'll one shot them
Question cowboy I talked to him and was about to kill the guy for his items when his daughter died but my game froze. When I restarted he was gone. When he invades can I still get those items?
When I saw Curved Sword Talisman was thinking I was getting some nice buffs for my already beasty +5 sword but no, improved Guard Counter….thats shit 😔

For the birds just pull out the turtle shell after shooting them, block and then counter. It's a little slower but It guarantees you not getting hurt
Been following this guide even though you stopped before godrick I fought him anyways and beat him He wasn’t that hard to beat

Oh shit fuck ya he took my souls like twice maybe three times I thought it was the knight in the dark as room when you go on the outside like he tells you I thought he was taking it and then I tested it and it wasn’t him ya fuck that guy he’s at the end when you fight the next boss saying he’s free now I should murk him
I remember I was losing souls trying to kill some reapers by graves somewhere, even though i'd pick them up after
I beat the first boss but I'm stuck I wish these episodes where longer

What level is the banished knight halberd when you kill him for it? Later in the game it’s leveled to +7 when he drops it.
Idk if he steals your runes but I'm absolutely certain he's the prick that locks you in that room with the knight 🤬
I went down to the crucible night, if you wait for him to follow before pressing the button he will charge at you and fall down the elevator shaft. I love when things work out hahaha

Instead of dropping down, you can hop up the rubble to your right and there's some loot. Can't remember what is there, but I'm pretty sure that's the spot.
