That dragon really wants everyone to know: he flies.
He should've shown us by flying up and down the bridge breathing fire, torching it while we take cover behind pillars during a second phase in that "FromSoft" dragon-on-a-bridge sort of way.
Dragon names could be a localisation thing, like a direct translation sounds silly but sensible in Japanese in more of a literal sense; glinstone dragon = magic, decaying dragon = rot, etc.
It was probably a toss-up between "Fire" dragon or "Flying" – don't know which is better honestly.

Keep in mind u are trying to rot things in the rot area and the difference between breaths is fp cost and range and small amount of damage
