Elden Ring is an action role-playing game developed by FromSoftware and published by Bandai Namco Entertainment. The game, directed by Hidetaka Miyazaki, was made in collaboration with fantasy novelist George R. R. Martin, who provided material for the game’s setting. Elden Ring was released for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S on February 25, 2022.

Elden Ring takes place in the realm of the Lands Between, sometime after the destruction of the titular Elden Ring and the scattering of its shards, the Great Runes. Once graced by the Ring and the Erdtree which symbolizes its presence, the realm is now ruled over by the demigod offspring of Queen Marika the Eternal, each possessing a shard of the Ring that corrupts and taints them with power. As Tarnished—exiles from the Lands Between who lost the Ring’s grace and are summoned back after the Shattering, players must traverse the realm to ultimately find all the Great Runes, restore the Elden Ring, and become the Elden Lord.[1][2][3]

Elden Ring is an action role-playing game played in a third-person perspective with gameplay focusing on combat and exploration; it features elements similar to those found in other games developed by FromSoftware, such as the Souls series, Bloodborne, and Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice. Director Hidetaka Miyazaki explained that players start with a linear opening but eventually progress to freely explore the Lands Between, including its six main areas, as well as castles, fortresses, and catacombs scattered throughout the open world map. These main areas are interconnected through a central hub that players can access later in the game’s progression—similar to Firelink Shrine from Dark Souls—and are explorable using the character’s mount as the main mode of transport, although a fast travel system is an available option. Throughout the game, players encounter non-player characters (NPCs) and enemies alike, including the demigods who rule each main area and serves as the game’s main bosses.[1][4][5]

Combat in Elden Ring relies heavily on character-building elements found in previous Souls games and related intellectual properties, such as calculated and close-ranged melee-based combat with the use of skills, magic abilities, as well as blocking and dodging mechanics. Elden Ring introduces mounted combat and a stealth system, the latter being a core gameplay element from Sekiro; these features are expected to encourage players in strategizing their combat approach with each unique enemy they encounter. The game makes use of a player character stamina bar after being absent from Sekiro, although its overall influence over combat was reduced compared to previous FromSoftware games that utilized it. Unlike in Sekiro, resurrection mechanics after in-game death are not available; however, some elements were added to ensure players’ progression within the game.[1][6]

  1. I agree with you on that bro. Both Elden Ring and Horizon Forbidden West are the 2 best open world game in the year 2022. I'm glad you enjoyed playing the game very much.👍🏼👍🏼

  3. Sadly don’t have the funds for the system yet – but when I do- I can’t freaking wait for this game. Haven’t been watching any vids to keep the content fresh haha. Looks so good. Something to look forward to for sure! Enjoy all! And best of luck!

  4. The quest thing is really what bothers me. I would also like a notification that a questline is now uncompletable due to me killing a boss or something like that. I know there are events like that that I have done, but I have no idea.

  5. I'm at the edge of buying this game. I've never played any souls like game but this is so hyped by PLAYERS that it must be really excellent and addictive. The only thing holds me back ate the PC performance issues.

  6. No it is the same with other games only in ER no guide system but you can't get any ending without specific steps,
6 or 7 ending every end had specific quest to do to get it, you can't discover it by yourself how even anyone could know ?
Quests, special weapon that need to killed by something to go to another area!!!!, TheDevelopers help the community secretly but no one say that and no one ever will say that. The point from any game to enjoy it.
no enjoy no play for that reason guide system is present… go to discover but know where but not with whom

  8. like you said, some kinda of quest notes or a page that you can make your own notes about the quest your doing. Just something to help you find/even know that there are even quests that can be started. Also a small triangle shaded in top corner on NEW items until you hover/inspect them so you can kind of keep track of what you just picked up in the heat of the moment or what not.

  10. On the quest-log: more Morrowind, less Skyrim. I've written some stuff down to emulate that sort of thing; and in the absence of a simple (marker-less) log being implemented in-game, I totally think that is a good way to go.
