On margit you just use it on him during phase 1 twice when he is on the ground. It creates a golden seal and literally does what it says. Binds him to the ground and he’s pinned down for a bit letting you get a combo or so in on him. You can only use it twice before phase 2 and if you had rotten stray the poison would finish phase two for you.
It only works for the 1st half and then he gets up and goes crazy

This does not work!! I repeat. THIS DOESNT work. False. You can stun him yes but only until phase two. Because when he goes into phase to he automatically gets stunned and starts attacking. You can get him to half health and that’s it. He wakes up after that.

THIS STILL WORKS!!! ONLY if you use Poison Mist. Make sure you only use the shackle 3 times and give about a half a sec between each use. Once you've done that enter the fight and walk towards him in a straight line, there is a risk of him unlocking if you don't. Once you get to him cast poison at him twice and his health will slowly tic down. Once you get to about half health he will require 4 uses of poison to tic so MAKE SURE you have at least +8 Mana Flasks, I had +8 and I was only left with 1 after. Once again only use poison mist as it Does not stagger, if you use any other weapon that staggers he will break free. Have fun Cheesing.
I'd highly recommend not cheesing this boss if you can, it's one of the coolest fights in the game and the lore behind the character is tragic and heartbreaking. I felt bad for fighting him normally with dual katanas because I think I was overlevelled and it lasted less than 2 minutes
1.03 STILL WORKS. You have to have rot breath and poison mist or its pointless. This is exactly what I did. I used the shackle 4 times. Waiting a second or so between each use in order to see the golden ring visual effect. After the final shackle use, wait 1-2 deliberate seconds. Then walk through the mist. Once through the mist lock on to him and walk directly towards him. Once youre in range. Use poison mist until he is at about 3/4s then use rot breath on him, the dps from it combined will take him into phase 2. Apply rot again and dps with your main weapon. I used the uchigatana on my bleed build. After getting some good dps in while hes coughing and spewing sickness on the ground. Just run from him. Kite him. I did this with 5 red flasks and 5 blue flasks with no points invested in mind. It was an easy kill but it takes some time getting used to.
This is not working he wakes up after once I’m a few hits in.
I highly suggest you to not cheese the boss, it completely ruins the fun of defeating the bosses. You will not get that feeling of accomplishment(at least I wouldn't) when killing a boss you've been stuck at for hours if you just cheese it and kill it in 1 minute. I killed him pretty easily, just used a bloody uschigatana+14 with bloody slash ash of war on it and rotten breath and mimic tear. First summon Melina, then enter the mist. When you've entered the mist just use margits shackle, go up to him and apply scarlett rot on him with the rotten breath. Then either wait for his health to go down or hit him with your weapon till he reaches his second phase. When he enters the second phase I just summon the mimic tear and dodge his attacks until Im able to hit him. Just repeat that until you defeat him and it shouldn't take that long to kill him. (I've never played a souls game before so I can say with confidence it won't be that hard if you use the same technique I did.) Good luck! 😀

After you chain him, allocate all your flask to magic and just spam the poison spell. Takes a while, but it skips pass the second part of the fight.

Only use poison to kill him. Nothing else. He wont do his arrows, he wont get into 2nd phase. Maybe takes some time but definatly worth it

Working as of March 23rd 2022, I had to use it 6 or 7 times in front of the border instead of just 4 or 5 though.
