Elden Ring is an action role-playing game developed by FromSoftware and published by Bandai Namco Entertainment. The game, directed by Hidetaka Miyazaki, was made in collaboration with fantasy novelist George R. R. Martin, who provided material for the game’s setting. Elden Ring was released for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S on February 25, 2022.

Elden Ring takes place in the realm of the Lands Between, sometime after the destruction of the titular Elden Ring and the scattering of its shards, the Great Runes. Once graced by the Ring and the Erdtree which symbolizes its presence, the realm is now ruled over by the demigod offspring of Queen Marika the Eternal, each possessing a shard of the Ring that corrupts and taints them with power. As Tarnished—exiles from the Lands Between who lost the Ring’s grace and are summoned back after the Shattering, players must traverse the realm to ultimately find all the Great Runes, restore the Elden Ring, and become the Elden Lord.[1][2][3]

Elden Ring is an action role-playing game played in a third-person perspective with gameplay focusing on combat and exploration; it features elements similar to those found in other games developed by FromSoftware, such as the Souls series, Bloodborne, and Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice. Director Hidetaka Miyazaki explained that players start with a linear opening but eventually progress to freely explore the Lands Between, including its six main areas, as well as castles, fortresses, and catacombs scattered throughout the open world map. These main areas are interconnected through a central hub that players can access later in the game’s progression—similar to Firelink Shrine from Dark Souls—and are explorable using the character’s mount as the main mode of transport, although a fast travel system is an available option. Throughout the game, players encounter non-player characters (NPCs) and enemies alike, including the demigods who rule each main area and serves as the game’s main bosses.[1][4][5]

Combat in Elden Ring relies heavily on character-building elements found in previous Souls games and related intellectual properties, such as calculated and close-ranged melee-based combat with the use of skills, magic abilities, as well as blocking and dodging mechanics. Elden Ring introduces mounted combat and a stealth system, the latter being a core gameplay element from Sekiro; these features are expected to encourage players in strategizing their combat approach with each unique enemy they encounter. The game makes use of a player character stamina bar after being absent from Sekiro, although its overall influence over combat was reduced compared to previous FromSoftware games that utilized it. Unlike in Sekiro, resurrection mechanics after in-game death are not available; however, some elements were added to ensure players’ progression within the game.[1][6]

Miyazaki stated that the customization in Elden Ring would be richer, as players are able to discover different skills through their exploration of the map instead of unlocking skill trees as in Sekiro and differing from the pre-fixed weapon skills of FromSoftware’s previous games. These skills are interchangeable with a large variety of weapons which, alongside equipment, magic abilities, and items players can craft using materials found within the world, can be used to customize the player character.[4][6] The game also features summoning mechanics, where players can summon a large variety of collectible spirits hidden throughout the game’s world map, including previously defeated enemies, as allies to assist them in battle. Similar to the Souls series, the game’s multiplayer allows other players to be summoned for cooperative play.[4][7]

  1. I love to watch people suffering while playing souls-like games, I love to watch "no-damage but defeating the game with a stick" gameplays, but I would never touch a game like this myself 🙂

  2. it's graphically beautiful but not really into hardcore stuff, this is something that you can beat but it takes a lot of time to master and if you work all day, I don't think punishing games would make you relax lol

  3. The game looks soo bad on my PS5 out of all next gen standard and expecting, Demons Souls for PS5 is far better looking, can't stand Elden Ring look especially buildings and it's repetitive textures as person from art school trained for viewing cant look at it 5-6 minutes, start it and must turn off that ugliest popular game im feeling cheated by uneducated YouTubers and reviewers which do not respect 2022 standards and our free time

  4. The Fell omen…oh god 3 hours it took me to beat him and I felt so under lvl but once I beat him I placed my controller down and just groaned loudly.

10 hours in and I beat the second boss (or second for me) this game kicks your ass and farts on you as a disrespectful ass…and I love it

  5. I love RPGs. But Elden Ring is not my jam, its the lack of QoL like having no auto FP regains and the boring Armor annoys me the most. The armor progfession in this game is real poor, armor has NO stats, NO perks and NO set bonus. I much rather play RPGs like Nioh, God of war Ragnarok on PC and Horizon 2 on PC were you have perks/ stats to motivate you, then playing Elden Ring on PC.

  6. I thought I was bad at this game, but I look like a pro in comparison.. I had some good laughs watching you face the sentinel. Just wait until you face Margrit. I cheered when I finally beat him after a few attempts.. and he's basically the first major boss.. lol.

Also, I'd suggest giving Samurai a shot, that's the class I've had the best success with, the sword does crazy dmg, plus a bleed effect, the armor is decent (with no fat rolling) and it has a longbow for ranged pulls. Plus unsheath (2H special attack) does stupid amounts of damage.

  7. Why is nobody's immediate thought to fight mounted enemies on the horse that the game gives you? Like… Ffs people it's a real life disadvantage if your opponent is on horseback and you're not, so there's a good chance being on a horse too will help

  8. IT'S funny listening to people try to act like this game isn't absolute B. s.
"Noooo! I'm going to lose to the tutorial boss?", he said.
    like everybody who played didn't?
The did in every stupid dark souls game there ever was?
IT'S what you do in these games, you live, Die and then repeat until you finally know what they're going to do well enough that you can out maneuver whatever.
That's the whole thing with these games… they're not super difficult IF you're willing to die any amount of times thats necessary in the single minded pursuit of learning such and Such part of the game well enough That you can master it…. repeatedly… Again and again throughout the whole entire series of these games.
To think, They still just keep making these games.
And all because some people out there who played the first dark souls who just couldn't admit that they had wasted their money and move on.
So, here we are all these years later and they are still able Sell These dark souls games to Us somehow.
All the while The same people as always are busy putting countless hours into the cycle of live die repeat untill they finally don't die or have to repeat and get to live just long enough to make it to the next cycle of living , dying and repeating the latest "progression".
We Get it, how You hung in there… You got good.
Have fun with that you have earned it. May it be deeply etched into your freaking gravestones, that you where a bit better than some people at a video game. hell! Even mention The game by name okay because you earned it.
…Dark Souls..or.. Elden Ring (whatever that even is ) Anyway it will be something like this i imagine…..
"here lies – so and so – Master of dark souls, The best also at Elden Ring. He/she was was better than some most (probably) at these games and he/she was an A–hole about every chance they got too. May they be forever remembered for their glorious achievement.

{This whole comment is meant to be read out loud and in a really silly voice. It must be overly dramaticizes and Way, WAY Over the top! It needs The type of intensity and anger that it takes for one who is also barely holding back their hot salty tears.)
