  1. Believe it or not, a lot of the big fights you have encountered thus far are very do-able.
There's a lot of different ways you can progress and become more powerful, but ultimately Elden Ring is still a skill-based game and it will help to become accustomed with all the tools at your disposal. Try experimenting more, trying out different tools and battle techniques, optimise your equipment and weight loadout and see what helps!

  2. Armchair psychoanalysis time! You have a habit of trying something once or twice, not immediately succeeding, then giving up. You've played all FromSoft's games, you gotta know it's going to take more than that. You 100% could have beat the Bloodhound Knight. Regarding you wanting to find more gear, optional bosses and areas are how you get all that cool gear, mate. Nothing in this game is going to come easy!

  3. Yeah, can't speak for the rest but please show all the full journey if you can/are up to it cause frankly this is not like an average mmo- it's hard not to run into run into new interesting content even when treading old ground- personal opinion though, and obviously this excludes running back an exact path to get back to a boss for example like in this episode, though I'd not mind it if that was left in too haha was watching Jone's streams and I loved that too

  4. "Yeah man, I don't know if I can get Elden Ring. I've got assignments lined up and work to do, and…"
"There's a lady who gives you free hugs."
"So should I go with the samurai, or the thief, or…?"

  5. No need to grind. Early game is hard in this game and you will get so much more out of questing for more smithing stones. I didn't fight Margit till I had a +5 weapon.

  6. In regards of farming Smithing Stones. They’re really rare to drop and a hassle to farm but there’s another mine later in another region where you find a bell bearing for the Roundtable trader so they will sell you Smithing Stones for runes.

  7. I love how From just went "Remember those flippy skeletons, with the milk ring and those Corvian knights? Those were both fairly strong and really annoying to fight. That's a new boss now." Gee thanks From.

  8. Outside Xbox did a list of 7 gameplay tips that Elden Ring doesn't tell you. The closest to a spoiler it has involves an NPC you've already met, and says they will eventually join you at Roundtable Hold where they become more useful.

  9. I do love how while most of us who went Vagabond removed stuff and didn't do much of anything until the fat roll was gone

Dan is making the most and has solid dodge timing down!

  10. Elden Ring is very much one of those, "Wait one more thing" games, where you just wanna check out one more thing or fight one more boss, or get one more level. I don't think it's my favorite FROM souls game, but it is a very good game.
Also Dan, trying going South. There's an island that is kinda meant for early game, and may help you get your bearings, some levels, and some good equipment. I also like it because it's a little more contained than Limgrave and helps you focus on a smaller area.

  11. Regarding the comparison to Breath of the Wild: one thing that eventually turned me off that game was that every reward for exploration was either shrines, seeds or disposable weapons. After a while, that just stopped being useful or interesting, and I stopped playing after the main story. In this game, I can find all sorts of things (spirits, weapon arts, spells, weapons, armor, key items and more), and even if I can't use the particular thing I find with my current build, there's at least an interesting item description to go along with it. I can't emphasize how much that motivates me to explore everything.

  12. I don't recommend grinding for runes in this game. You'll get plenty of runes just from passive exploration. Loving the open-ended exploration by the way, building a list of challenges to revisit later is very rewarding once those are overcome.

  13. Idk, I feel like you could've handled Stonedigger Troll if you'd played a little more cautiously. You seemed to have thing well in hand there on the second run when you were playing a bit more defensively. Maybe he's a boss where leaning a bit more on that side of things would be a positive?

Idk, I'm bad at souls games, so I'm probably wrong.

  14. Like some have said;

You can see Ashes of War descriptions before equipping by toggling the "item info" button while on the Ashes if War screen. It's not intuitive, but prompts are onscreen.
Plus! They are resuasable you can swap them as often as you like.

Spirits will have a clear pop-up on screen, but you need an item first to summon them.
