El Salvador drug gangs face ‘world’s coolest dictator’ as innocent suffer in crackdown

On a single Saturday in March 62 people were killed – it was El Salvador’s deadliest day since the civil war ended three decades years ago. (Subscribe: https://bit.ly/C4_News_Subscribe)

This was despite a steady decline in murder rates for years.

The Central American country has long been known as one of the most dangerous places on earth – with violent turf wars engulfing the capital San Salvador.

But over the last month more than 20,000 people have been arrested during an unprecedented crackdown on gangs under emergency measures brought in by El Salvador’s authoritarian president, Nayib Bukele.

But while critics accuse him of brutality and violating human rights – he has described himself as “the world’s coolest dictator”.

  1. Every mother Claims that her son is not a gangster because that's what they wish would be the truth. But the truth is each one of those people have a reason to be there and they should be there. This president is a REAL leader for his people. I'm jealous

  3. 😠 how easy for this journalist to say things about a country he probably does not know. You will have to live in that kind of situation to understand what the president is doing.

  4. There's no innocent people in jail that guy was what they call a poste and those postes are the reason why the gang would kill in a lot of innocent people. So they need to Pay for that. El salvador has a call line 123 we're people can call and point out people that are gang members and there affiliates. Mothers are always going to be in denial about there kids being criminals specially salvadorea. Mothers that's how the culture is.

  5. If people knew how bad the drug & gang problem was in El Salvador they would understand the need for enhanced enforcement. It was badly needed. You can't make an omelet without breaking a few eggs.Know where MS-13 originated? That's right,El Salvador.Leftist can't handle that. They feel that the welfare of the drug gangs is higher than its victims.I say this president is a hero.We could use a guy like that here in the US.Leftists-always pretending to represent the people while consistently protecting the corrupt, violent & commie thugs.

  6. Well some times to get results you can not separate the wet branches from the dry,so everything gets burned at the same time!!! From the , let's say 10.000 people that were arrested, the 15 are innocent!!! That's the percentage of the gang activity in my that country!! So at the end it's worth it!! I really do feel for the innocent, but we hen they are back to there homes and honest life, they will even say that it was worth it!!! Continue to he good effort and wo to k that you have started!!!!
