Atlantis Tom Daniel Son of Troublemaker Funny Car 1/24 M2204 2204
Tom Daniel has gone racing again and added a fresh new style into the Funny Car ranks. Chevy fans will love it because Tom has stuffed a big injected Chevy βRatβ motor behind the driver in an outrageously wild looking, chopped, narrowed and stretched El Camino Funny Car body.
The beautifully molded midnight blue body looks like speed itself⦠low in front, with a chopped cab, flowing back into the slotted, flushed rear deck, dual rear spoilers and capped by a twin, rear chute pack.
Pivoting forward, the El Camino body reveals the intricate innards of this unique rear engine concept. A strong four bar frame and integrated roll cage house the big injected 454 cu. in. Chevy βRatβ motor, upswept βzoomieβ exhaust headers, chrome valve covers, intake manifold and injector stacks. The detailed driverβs compartment has a realistically done seat, harness, steering assembly and fire bottles.
Shod with big racing slicks on chrome mags, Son of Troublemaker looks like it really means business. Long, low and mean, this Son of Troublemaker is all pure Drag Racing in one of its most colorful forms and a great tribute to the original!
Rerelease of the mega-popular Tom Daniel Chevy El Camino Funny Car kit originally released in 1973! Molded in midnight blue/black for the rerelease. Mid chassis mounted 454 cubic inch V8 Chevy βRat β motor, zoomed exhaust headers and the unmistakable El Camino body design. The 1/24 scale plastic model kit also includes a large decal sheet.
The Chevrolet El Camino is a coupΓ© utility vehicle that was produced by Chevrolet between 1959β60 and 1964β1987. Unlike a standard pickup truck, the El Camino was adapted from the standard two-door Chevrolet station wagon platform and integrated the cab and cargo bed into the body.
Introduced in the 1959 model year in response to the success of the Ford Ranchero coupΓ© utility, its first run, based on the Biscayneβs B-body, lasted only two years. Production resumed for the 1964β1977 model years based on the Chevelle platform, and continued for the 1978β1987 model years based on the GM G-body platform.
The base model and SS option shared interior and exterior appointments with the Chevelle Malibu, while the El Camino Classic (introduced for 1974) shared its trim with the more upscale Chevelle Malibu Classic.
Front disc brakes were now standard on all β73 El Caminos. Additional new features were an acoustical double-panel roof, tighter-fitting glass, flush-style outside door handles, molded full-foam seat construction, flow-through power ventilation system, inside hood release, refined Delcotron generator and sealed side-terminal battery, a larger 22-US-gallon (83 L; 18 imp gal) fuel tank, and βflush and dryβ rocker panels introduced first on the redesigned 1971 full-size Chevrolets. New options included swivel bucket seats (with console) and Turbine I urethane (backed by steel) wheels, as was the instrument gauge cluster.[15] A benefit of the new body designs was much better visibility to which the unusually thin windshield pillars contributed. A structural improvement was a stronger design for the side door guard beams. El Caminos shared the βColonnadeβ frameless door glass with other Chevelles, and would continue this feature into the next generation as well.
The 307 2-barrel V8 with 115 hp (86 kW) was the base engine. Options included a 350 2-barrel V8 with 145 hp (108 kW), a 350 4-barrel V8 with 175 hp (130 kW), and a 454 4-barrel V8 with 245 hp (183 kW). Hardened engine valve seats and hydraulic camshafts made these engines reliable for many miles, and allowed them to accept the increasingly popular unleaded regular gasoline. The three-speed manual transmission was standard; 4-speed manual and Turbo Hydra-Matic 3-speed automatic transmissions were optional. Crossflow radiators and coolant reservoirs prevented overheating.

I love it! I need to get one. Nice job!!
Absolutely gorgeous.
Wasn't sure I would like that but after its done I like it
It looks like it has a big block chevy with a toque flight transmission in it
I've seen thousands of funny cars but never one with a El Camino body….. WICKED βπ
As always love the builds( especially the cool drag builds), hints, tips, tricks…
my favorite modeling channel ! Please keep the video's rolling in ππ
Very nice and simple kit.Great build as always, thanks for sharing π
Excellent work.
Very nice. What kind of glue did you use to put the rear tire halves together?
Hey this model factory is in my neck of the woods. I just toured their factory with my model club afew weeks ago. Meet the owners great people.
Love the dullcoated rims, looks truly lifelike!
Hey Chris… the floor polish you are using hasn't been marketed under the Future name in many many years. This is confusing a lot of guys trying to find that stuff. It is Pledge Renew It now, available at many stores.
TY Chris. That was fun to watch. I'm somewhat skeptical of anything molded in color, but that bare plastic was very nice.
That one really turned out nice. What a cool looking design.
Gotta admit, this thing is way cool!
top good job
excellent job, i am going to order mine on line and hope it comes out as good as yours did
Man thatβs a good looking model and no paint on the body impressive. Iβm not a car modeler but this drill inspires me to get this kit. Great job!
Definitely adding to the stash great build keep em coming.βCanadaβ
Came out great. Something a little different for sure.
Just got this kit and looking forward to building it!! πππ
Great build Chris! I built the original "Troublemaker" a year ago but the decals were shot so I had to improvise. I hope that Atlantis continues to put out more of Tom Daniels' kits.
Tom S.
Got to hand it to Atlantis, they've stepped up their game. I've noticed the increase of their kits you've been doing.
You can't beat Tom Daniel, or his son, for imagination, and creativity. It appears to be a 72 nose on a 73-77 body. Pretty cool.
This is a must get. I had the original Troublemaker when I was in 6th grade extremely fun to build as is all Tom Daniels kits. Seeing how yours turned out in the molded body color I'll give it a try and yes I was one of those hollering NO, NO, NO, but with the 2 coats of future that looks dazzling.
Great review mate , ive been following you for a little while ,normally i go for battleships and armour, but ive been watching some of your older videos and find myself wanting to build a 50s car , thanks for sharing , have a good one mate ππππ
Nice build Chris, keep up the great work. π
Is that you uncle tony??
Excellent Review Chris, Love The Final Results π€π€ Thanks For Sharing Your Fun and God Bless All π€π Gary.
I built this as the Trouble Maker in the seventies. As typical of all Monogram Tom Daniel designs, an easy builder that was molded in colors for instant gratification for a kid that was under the age of ten. If it comes to Hobby Lobby, I might pick one up. Hobby Lobby has a few Atlantis kits in non-automotive plastic. I'm hoping they'll expand.
Excellent! Do you have a video that shows how you apply the coats of Future floor polish?
love your channel, but why do you have "watermarks" all over your photo scroll? kinda takes away from seeing the finished model,my 2 cents.
Another top job, keep doing what you doing your way cheers ππ¦πΊ
What glue have you been using lately that has the brush built into the cap? I've used Testors glue with the brush built into the cap and it never bonds the pieces together very well or quickly.
Nice enjoyable, eazy build.. Nice Ride Mr. C. π

I have done a few different things when it comes to painting and the frame and parts. Should I build frame and other parts first then paint for paint before assembly?
Never could figure out the reason for two piece tires.
Very niceπ
What type of glue did you use to combine the parts to chrome. I alway have an issue with keeping these together. I didnβt see you scratch either surfaces. Thanks for another fun build.
Great build video. That kit turned out great. Excellent detailing. As always, thanks for sharing.
Awesome work π π π
Your an inspiration! I recently became disabled and thought I get into model building after watching your videos. How you show how you paint every little detail and what color paints you use. I am amazed how good you are! Thank you for teaching us newbieβs on the craft of model building!
I like the fact you painted the extinguishers in yellow!
Cool video Chris, as always… Stay safe!
Chris, can you tell me what kind of attachment you are using in the drill to scuff the tires?
Another great build! Hope to grab one soon!!
Great work you channel put me back in love with modeling again havent done it for close to 30 years
