Until they inevitably get nerfed into the ground
I love World Eaters, but this kit just doesn't do it for me. I wanted khorn terminators. Hoping they'll be with the next wave.

the models are a bit too weird/mutated/soft to me, i think khorne models should be a bit more sharp/angular/angry
Im probably gonna use Chaos Chosen from AoS as kitbash for them, they should be around the same hight.
If only they did come with like 12 screaming evil baby faces to chose from …maybe maybe if they had some cool head options…I feel Worldeaters are in a weird position where their basic troops are the best models in their range.
8 bound are incredible. The tournament players will get them nerfed as it’s the best thing in our army and they will spam them.
Thanks, I h8 them.
Anything in this army will be spammed because the model lineup is so vast /s
Inb4 Exalted Eightbound and Eightbound get nerfed into unusability in competitive play
GW really missed out on squad size with 3-per-kit launch. If there would be 4 guys in box, we could run regular ones in squad of 8. They did it with Death Guard, plague Marines come in 7 per box!
I think anyone interested in them (and WE in general) should wait for Boarding Patrol box.
10 Jackals, 10 Berzerkers and 3 Exalted Eightbound cost around 425 points…
The comparison is good, however the point for point comparison isn't quite fair, regular 8bound will almost always be taken in 5s, so yes while exalted do survive a bit more, hitca big harder point for point, the truth is on the table it will be a 5 man unit vs a 3, just the fact that the regular 8bound can fight in death also means they can kill of way more points than the exalted before they are removed
Greatest thing about the kit is that Chain Glaive they come with that no one will nor should ever use.
I'm doing a bit of knife work and giving them all to my Night Lords as counts-as heavy chainaxes.
Should have been Red Butchers… these just look goofy af. (Sorry to anyone who finds these cool…) at least we can ally in Daemons to makeup for the lack of cool Khorne units
This comparison is assuming the player is only taking 3 of either. Once you take 5 or 6 eightbound in 3 blocks with the buffs swings way in thier direction. Not withstanding the point cost!
i think the much more interesting part of bloodscent that no one seems to talk about is that you can bring eightbound in from reserve into the enemy deployment zone in turn 2
looks like you missed that the exalted's blood fury ability can also kill enemy actions on a 4+
I have tried using the strategic reserve thing for regular 8-bound. It can be really good especially if you want a turn 1 charge and don't have invcoatus as your Warlord, however only if your opponent does not know how to properly screen them. Once someone knows the limits of the arriving turn 1 then it is quite easy to counter
I’m not really sure that they end up getting nerfed like everybody is saying. Yes they are efficient for the points but they are a melee only unit in a small squad size with relatively few wounds.
Exalted suffer from not being khore, and thus not benefiting from a lot of goodness, whereas the standard eightbound, at the moment anyway (i.e. until GW sells enough of them), feel like even more tempting to take in 2-3 squads instead of Angron himself, so that they benefit from Lord Invocatus' pre-game move bonus (if he's your WL).
Lore-wise, I hate their guts, for being cooler than the Word Bearers' own possessed, plus the models really look like they were designed by a 50 year old neckbeard who identifes as a 9 year old.
Yeah. Not buying any until after the first round of nerfs have surfaced. I’m somewhat surprised that anyone buys GW minis on release anymore with their horrific ‘bait switch’ approach.
I’ll point out that it’s absurd these come in 3s and have a max size of 6 for Khorne. Obviously this should come in 4s and allow up to 8 (and have some extra buff while all 8 live – like each gets an extra attack while the unit has 8 models in it). That would encourage the use of the correct unit size, while Blast helps keep it from being oppressive.
Nurgle Bless Our Constitution In The Kindest Of Ways 🖤
Basically the upgrades to the chain glaves on both units are a downgrade. Better off sticking with the defaults
Of course they are good: GW wants to sell the brand new unit with no previous equivalent kit.
I'm really just not sold on the Eightbound yet. Maybe its because I play a lot of Custodes and they seem too fragile by comparison? I did two games yesterday, and they seem more fragile and less lethal than Berzerkers point-for-point. My enemy had zero trouble killing them; they're a better target for shooting since berzerkers have Blood Surge, and in melee they're really not that hard to kill with most melee weapons being a minimum of strength 5 with ap. And I'm fine with my units dying, Blood for the Blood God n whatnot, but when they're my "elite" units, I expect them to do more than roll over.
I don't really think these boys need a nerf. They hit hard but get killed off very easily. I played them into Votann and they were amazing but still very limited as a melee only unit.
I'm thinking 6 squads of 5 berzerkers, angron, lord on juggernaut, demon prince, 3 rhinos, 2 squads of exalted 8bound, and 1 squad of 3 regular 8bound.
Horrendous fusion of “man and H-Daemons”. That sounds more like Slannesh, tbh
Man I like their lore and concept but these sculpts don’t do it for me. They look too human and their regular flesh tone paint job doesn’t helps. They look like regular berserkers that didn’t manage to get fully dressed before the battle. I would sooner retry to run regular possessed models as proxies.
GW has a great skill of buffing new kits, selling them off, and then nerfing them into the ground. Many models have also never hit the table 😅
Of course they are. They want to sell them at an outrageous price, and they expect the metaslaves to buy a whole bunch.
Then they get nerfed in time for the next new hotness to be released, leading the metaslaves to now buy a whole bunch of that to win with.
Origin story of an eightbound:
Picture of a world eater marine sitting on a couch with eight bloodthirsters standing behind him.
I hate the kit tbh, which is a shame cause it seems like World Eaters without them is just a no-go. I really liked the idea of the army of renown too but it being "spam eightbound and nothing else" also ruined it.
Would be interesting to see a comparison to 5 berserkers which are also 120 points
Both seems really good
Disciples of Red Angels really FORCES you into one specific build. The only way to get any daemons in your patrol is to pretty much Max out every World Eater unit you can buy and you still only get around 300 points of Daemons which means you have very few options again because you have to have Blood Letters at 130 & at least 80pt HQ leaving only 90pts. Which can't even be fully spent because the Skull Cannon puts you over 25%PL. I feel like they made this faction and did not think through the implications of it being just a few units and Daemons and the restrictions on adding a Daemon Patrol. It makes me wonder if it was intended to be like Ynnari where both World Eaters and Daemons are in same AoO detatchment. In any case it's quite bad to have almost no options of what to take in a DofRA army and having to leave unspent points due to PL %. I was really hoping to run this DofRA army!!
Any advice on face conversions? I just put some together, and they look dumb as heck
Any forge world vehicles or transports that could help?
What an ugly set of models. Those heads…. these feet…. We're back in ComedyHammer 40k it seems.
You can’t legally take 8. Wow
how does one tell the difference between eightbound and exalted eightbound? 🤔
