Eiffel 65 – Blue (Da Ba Dee) 6:38 (132 BPM)
Mix By Dave Gadbois
“Blue (Da Ba Dee)” is a single by Italian group Eiffel 65. It is the band’s most popular single, reaching #1 the UK, Australia, and Germany, and also reaching #6 on the Billboard Hot 100 in the United States. The song was released in 1999 on the album Europop.
The lyrics of the song are nonsensical, Jeffrey Jey (the lead singer) stated the lyrics were not supposed to mean anything. The chorus is often erroneously thought to be saying “If I was green, I would die.” Another one is a drug reference, and its “i’ve OD’ed, i have died” as in ‘I’ve overdosed, i’ve have died’.
The song was used during a scene of the Frankie Muniz movie Big Fat Liar. Muniz dyes the antagonist, Marty Wolf, blue in Wolf’s pool by the addition of blue coloring. Later Muniz drives up beside as the song plays, referring to Marty’s blue skin.
