  1. The daemon scenes in harrenhal could have been done alot fewer and probably he should have gone around riverun with the heir of the riverlands to secure loyalty from the liege lords.
anything daemon did in season 2 didnt feel earned, the heir and alys Rivers just resolved all his issues. while the spent the entire season haunted by his demons. what a waste of a character.

  2. 46:31 i would find it hilarious if the Targaryans drew the line at sexual relationships with their parents. Like "Yeah Ill marry my sister."

    "Yeah Ill marry my uncle."

"Woah woah woah thats my mother. Thats where I draw the line. Thats sick."

That whole idea is amusing to me.

  3. Pixies were originally called Elves, Berserk is using the old world term for Pixie when they call them Elves. Berserk actually does this a decent amount, referring to magical items as "Fetishes" is another example.

  5. It is one of the major downsides of this show is the underdevelopment of the Black Council. It comes off so antagonistic that it tarnished everything going on on that side. The advisors are snarky and and Rhaenyra is dismissive, and if we had more development with the council, you could keep that tension, but we would know that they are on the same side and trying to pull in the same direction.
Right now, I can't even name one member aside from Corlis, whereas we have deep backstories of half of the Green Council.

  6. Regarding the point on weird criticisms of this show, I was talking about it with one of my friends after the finale who said the show is poorly written because it is too predictable. His evidence was that he knows Daemon will die at Harenhall (because Alice Rivers said so, we haven't read the books,) that Rhaenys would die after strapping in at Rook's Rest, and that he knew Mysaria and Rhaenyra would get together from the moment she turned back after being freed.

I was very confused because my main problem with the Mysaria scene is how out of nowhere it was, but he said he always saw it coming despite next to no evidence. With his other "predictions", it seemed like he would see the show intentionally setting up something is going to happen, then complaining he knew that thing would happen (Like Rhaenys' death).

My friend does a lot of screenwriting, so maybe he can just see things from the meta of the writers' perspective, but I was baffled by his examples. Since there's been no Ned Stark or Red Wedding moment, he thinks the show overall is bad because he already knows everything that is going to happen.

He's cool guy but sometimes his media takes are quite odd. Like the panel said though, there's been a lot of strange takes regarding this show.

  7. Why the fuck didn’t Aemond just wait for Rhaenys and Meleys to kill Aegon and Sunfyre before swooping in to kill them and be the hero of the battle who succeeded where the king failed? They could’ve even played it off like he noticed Sunfyre heading that way and flew in Vhaegar after him but was too late to save his brother.

  8. Really…? Mauler doesn’t think the lions are used in warfare? Is that because he thinks it would be stupid rule of cool writing or because he doesn’t think it would be viable tactically? Cuz if he’s cool with war lions then he can’t talk shit on war rhinos in Black Panther…

  9. I like to think that when the camera is slowing zooming into Alicent at the table she's just going through all the times Laris slapped his meat to her feet….."All those feet pics, and for what?" 😂😂

  10. I cannot stand the Dragon/Wyvern argument.
You know where the differentiation comes from? D&D. I can’t find any evidence of the distinction before it. Yet people have this stern stance on it as if it’s a true definitional difference in the English language.
You know what tales from the classical period refer to a beast with two wings and two legs as? A dragon. They also called monstrously large serpents dragons, because that’s what dragon means: serpent. And if we want to look at the etymology of Wyvern? It comes from the same root as Viper- a type of snake.
I find that fitting, one being a useful distinction, but still only a type of the other.

  11. The food shortage actually makes sense. First of all King's Landing is a huge city that was built in previously empty space surrounded by dense forest so there isn't farmland for it to self sustain. Also many of the Lords of the Crownlands near the city are loyal to the Blacks so they would adhere to the blockade. Finally, it's also shown in previous episodes (and also in GOT) that there is food in the city but people's fear and speculation makes it scarcer do to hoarders. You could make the argument that they should secure supplies from somewhere else but considering that it has been a relatively short time, and the Greens have focused their resources on the war effort it's not unreasonable that it isn't the case on these episodes/season.

  12. I'd hate to destroy anybodys fun with the show, but unless i'm missing something, the dragons completely destroy the show from last episode of season 1. From the moment Rhaenys joins Rhaenyra's side, the war should already be over, but script demands dragon fights so we go on. Its good without dragons, but i cant make any sense with them in the show, unless i'm missing something and there was some magic established to protect riders, give dragons infinite life and stamina, ability to teleport, and maneuverability of a swallow. As soon as blacks have 3 big dragons its over, no need for armies, no need to wait, since they wont have a better situation against Vhagar, or at least shouldnt plan for it. if anybody can be asked to explain, how am i wrong. thanks

  13. Mysaria's "men are bad and I will never trust one again" speech into the lesbo kissing was the icing on the hypercringe cake that is Mysaria and Rhaenyra's relationship.

Imagine if we could have the same show, but without this kind of bs. Well, sucks to live in current year I guess.

  14. Rhaenas whole family really forgot she existed. Corlys asks Baela to be his heir and she declines and hes just like "sigh guess Ill ask my bastard son. IF ONLY I HAD ANOTHER GRANDCHILD TO NAME MY HEIR."

  15. 3:17:43 WRONG. She apparently can now shift the whole war to be in favor of Rhaenyra. She tells us so when she somehow ends up on dragonstone un-detected in the middle of the night!!! You’re wrong sorry!!!

  16. first RedLetterMedia, then Deadpool and Wolverine, now House of the Dragon Season 2 … what's going on with the community dissent on EFAP recently?

way more than usual. in that there's even a little bit in the comments. all the major-liked comments on this one seem to be slamming the show.

happily, everyone can agree on Boogie 2,988, though. no discourse there. what's that they say? twice is a coincidence, three emerges what could be a pattern? weird. weird, weird, weird.

  17. 2:31:00 Heavily disagree with Mauler on two levels. One is that she is right. What he said was not only tone deaf, he was being a condescending prick and yes, it was intended by the show to be a sign of misogyny. Everything the "advisers" say is supposed to be steeped in that. So, it's absolutely necessary for her to purge them of that notion, or just relieve them of their positions, especially because the realm not accepting a queen is the entire core point of that whole conflict. This is not the time to tolerate that particular ideological disagreement.

Second – more important – level is that it doesn't matter what your interpretation is, because the show will obviously build on what it has planned, not your fanfiction. It's incredible that someone can be so delusional and arrogant that he can identify what the show is trying to do, disagree with it, and then consciously insert his own interpretation to make it work in his own head. One of the largest flaws that Mauler and by extension EFAP has is the idea that they can do that. It's not just here, they have done this on many occasions. No Mauler, if the show disagrees with you, it's not a matter of interpretation. You're just wrong about the show.
It's different of course if the show is intentionally ambiguous, but if you see what they are trying to do, it's actively insane to insert your fanfiction as if it were reality.

Funny thing is Wyverns and Wyrms actually exist in Asoiaf as distinct creatures and there is an implication that the Dragons were created by the Valyrians(or Great Empire of the Dawn) by them using blood magic cross breeding Wyverns with other creatures like Wyrms.

  19. You would think the self professed expert in medieval history would know that land based trade and supply is woefully inefficient especially for an urban sized city. With most trade being done by internavigabe waterways. Kings landing relying on their deep sea port. The breadbasket of westeros being on the coast. But oh well.
