Earthquake hits Philippines’ Luzon island, rattling Manila

An earthquake has hit the northern Philippines, shattering windows at its epicentre and causing high-rise towers to shake more than 300km (185 miles) away in the capital Manila.
The quake, which struck the mountainous province of Abra on the main island of Luzon at 8:43am local time (00:43 GMT), was measured at a preliminary magnitude of 7.1 by the US Geological Survey (USGS), 7.2 by the European Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) and 7.3 by the Philippines Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs).
USGS said the earthquake’s epicentre was about 11km (7 miles) east-southeast of the town of Dolores.

    Ring of Fire-a earthquake and volcanic vulnerable region.
    Don't be surprised if countries like New Zealand, ASEAN countries, the Eastern part of Australia, and the Western part of the U.S. are much more likely to receive earthquakes and Volcanic eruptions.
    We have to be prepared for such incidents.

  21. I am not a believer, but because I am a humane person I wish that the heart's desire of the believers will be fulfilled, that they enter their Biblical paradise as soon as possible so that they do not have to suffer on earth anymore.

  32. Let's hope the phillipine government helps the people. The United States conducted several nuclear bomb tests around the marshall islands. Could they have something to do with the earthquakes? Of course not!! Silly me.

    It's Philippines . A tropical country that every year have a disasters it's either earthquake, volcanic eruption, typhoon or tsunami.

  42. The earthquake is strong and Japan and China shows their willing ness to send any kind of assistance. Wherein if other countries were affected severely by any natural or manade disaster or accident Philippinoes did not give any help. Yes its good to accept help but its also good to send help to those who are in need. Like the Americans everytime Philipinos affected by disasters they always cry begging the american government for help. But the Philipinoes are not paying anything in philipinoes defense. Just like those military exercises its absurdity that mostly its the american hardware is used because of course american hardware are so many in numbers compared to the miniscule obsolete oudated and refurbished philipino arms and equipment. And to make matters worse the American military will also have to do charitable missions like building roads medical mission in the expense of the americans. Does the Philipino do the same thing. There are lots of americans living below poverty line. But nope the Philipinos will tell the Americans you can give them help philipinos need help so you Americans also help our people and defense us from the Chinese. Thats how demanding the Philipinos.
