  1. Cerny, Sterling and Jefte made a huge difference when they came on – added balance and dynamism to the team. Despite the awful initial line-up I thought we actually did OK. A score draw was a fair result.

  2. I was very disappointed with virtually last season’s team playing as badly as last seasons team could play until the last 15mins of the 2nd half. Too many balls given away trying to thread the needle, too much backing off in defence and too many players simply nowhere. Wright was invisible, Tav has brought his bad form from last season but got better. Diamonde also innocuous, McCausland nippy, but ineffective, Barron okay, but often out of his depth and Yilmaz ineffective including awful corner taking. Souter hot and cold, Balogun excellent.
We definitely improved when the subs came on and apart from the odd misplaced pass, suddenly we saw opportunities. Cerny looked good, as did Sterling and Jefte. All three made the difference and I also have a smile on my face after this.

  3. I can understand you ranting about the line up I totally agree so mind boggling, but that goal making all the difference, yes it makes hell of a difference ,but coming home with a 0-1 from a team that won 9-2 on aggregate against a decent team who are already into there season . Was a decent performance from us I was expecting goals against us but no we played as good as them and dare I say it better . Come on the rangers ❤️🤍💙

  4. I did say a score draw before the game, but more out of hope than expectation. The team performed really well, time for ALL fans to get behind the team and stop the negativity.

  5. Sorry for the long comment CJ…..
Firstly, I am well pleased with the draw because I truly feared what the result would be and when I saw our starting 11 that fear went up a few notches. Part of me thinks that overall a draw is a fair result.
I've said before in the comments and I'll say it again; we need another RB, CB and we need a Striker.
At RB Taverneir is finished in my opinion and we cannot rely on Dujon with his injury record and to be fair, I think he looks better in midfield but then we haven't really seen him at RB often enough but still….
Soutar is a NIGHTMARE. He played them onside on more than one occasion and the glaring one was at their goal. He couldn't tackle his way out of a wet paper bag. As you rightly point out CJ, if Davies had played like Soutar he would have been subbed at halftime to shouts of 'he should never play for us again'.
Yes Dessers scored and to be fair he took his goal like, dare I say it, a REAL STRIKER but how often does he miss what can be termed SITTERS? Too often is the answer.
    To my ratings of how each player did;
Butland – was there with a couple of decent stops and one good save in particular.
Taverneir – once again, posted MIA on far too many occasions and as captain he couldn't lead a pack of Brownies.
    TIME TO GO TAV.
Soutar – USELESS, no worse than that, he costs us goals and more often than not, you'll find him on his arse. Just not good enough.
Balogun – the STANDOUT man of the match for us. He reads the game so well, is solid and leads by example. I wish we had got him at the 28 to 30 age. If we could keep him fit then playing alongside Propper we could have TWO solid CB's.
Ridvan – flashes of decent play but almost like Barisic, he was passing the ball backwards/sideways
Barron – I thought he played really well. He was all over the pitch, covering for others and for an almost 22 year old, he played with the confidence and foresight of a 28/30 year old. Well done son.
Diomande – now I like this guy a lot but I felt this game passed him by for large parts and it is in games of this magnitude that we need him to be instrumental not invisible.
Lawrence – he is MEANT to be our CREATIVE player yet apart from that poor shot in the 1st half, he would as well have been sitting on the bench because he did nothing and contributed less. Yet we are letting Cantwell and Hagi go??????
McCausland – considering how little playing time he got in pre-season I was impressed by him particularly in the 1st half but I would love to see him being used as you suggested CJ, as backup to Cerny, where he can learn from him and come on for the last 20 minutes and show what he has learned.
Wright – another that is not good enough to be at the club. How many times must he be subbed at half time before the penny drops??? He could have sat on the bench and we wouldn't have noticed the difference.
Dessers – again he is not the answer. THAT header when he was offside should have been in the net. It was a GLARING miss. Yes, he doesn't hide and yes, he took his goal well but how many times in a game do we all say "ffs Dessers you should have scored that"? Again, the answer is; too often.
    Subs;
Jefte – did not too badly down the left wing. Great cross to Cerny who then had the assist.
Cerny – some heavy touches but like you CJ I was raging at this baffling thing he had obviously been asked to do i.e. allow Taverneir et al to run BY HIM and he then feeds them when it should be the other way around. He did well to get control of the pass from Jefte then his cross was sublime to shouts of "that's what happens when you allow a winger to play as a WINGER". We signed him because we obviously liked the way he plays i.e. AS A WINGER so why then did Clement* have him not play as a winger???
Sterling – looked good, was solid and when he got the ball he drove us forward.
Dowell – didn't have a lot of time to do much.
*Clement – I said not long ago that I thought he was the man for the job but I'm starting to question that.
Yes we got a draw when must of us were wondering 'could we keep the score down' but his team selections are becoming ever more baffling. Not playing Propper because "he's been busy this week"? WTAF? We signed him to play football, not wait for amazon to deliver parcels and by God, we NEED him to play football.
Playing Wright, not giving Danilo any competitive game time, despite talking about giving him minutes during pre-season to "build him up", putting Cerny on and having him play in Taverneir etc instead of playing the way he did that got us interested in him, letting Hagi go without giving him a chance? The way he grabbed and threw Cantwell at the end of the cup final, not mentioning that we need to get a striker in he door when it is GLARINGLY obvious that we need one.
As I said before, some of his team selections have been baffling and yes, 2 of our new guys helped set up our goal but that starting 11 could easily have seen us been 3 or 4 behind at halftime had it not been for Butland and Balogun.

  6. Not sure I agree on the Tav point, thought he was ok tonight. I do agree on Scott Wright (empty jersey) and Tom Lawrence (as mobile as a coat stand and not good enough at everything else to even use to hold it up/bounce passes off). We either need a good 10 (which are hard to find/expensive) or go 433. I thought overall we look decent tonight but squad still needs work, which we all know.

  7. I thought Tav had a decent game. There was a point at the end of the first half he made silly defensive errors but other than that I thought he looked good. As you said Barron, Diomande, Sterling should be the midfield.

  8. Dessers comes in for a lot of criticism but service into the box has been shocking of late. Cerny and Jeffte def made a difference but how many chances does Wright need to be given? Passing generally was shocking but at least we are still in the mix.

  9. id rather see Dujon play at CB than souttar and ben Davis there is no way king is going to become even close to what we thought he was going to a few years ago…getting chucked in at the deep end under gio and tha 2nd half hammering v Liverpool didn't do him any good and he's just no kicked on at all.we need another was gone say Propper CB that will sound like a pun but we do

  12. Jesus I have more grey hair now than ever, they made it hard for themselves and us. Surley PC must see now that Scott Wright is surplus to requirements as he added nothing to the game yesterday. Balogun and Barron stood out for me , not sure many others had pass marks. Lefte and Sterling made the differnce when they came on and thankfully Dessers made a run that proved he may have strikers intution after all and baled us out. Next game is a must win

  15. Was well impressed with Jeftes crossing ability, that boy whips it in !
Sterlings the man, he seems to 'pick up' the team when he plays.
Dio was really, really poor and worryingly looked way out of his depth.
Big Soutter ? No, not for me, not good enough, for a boy his size to be getting bullied all the time is not on, hope Proppers got a bit more strength.

Can someone tell me why Clement was quick to publicly tell Lammers and Hagi they had no future here but says nothing about Wright? Pay him off. get him off the books, I know hes not on a big wage but get rid and take Matondo as well..

  16. I THOUGHT OUR PRESS IN THE 2ND HALF WAS AWESOME & WE DID NOT DESERVE TO LOSE THIS GAME !!!! THEY COULD NOT PLAY THEIR GAME BECAUSE OF THIS PRESS AND IF WE DO THIS AGAINST ANY ONE THEY WOULD HAVE TO PLAY VERY SLICK TO PLAY THROUGH US !!!!!!
