With Dune & Dune: Part Two reaching Modern Classic status & Denis Villeneuve in active development on Dune: Part 3, the universe CONTINUES to expand as HBO’s Dune: Prophecy takes us back 10,000 years before the rise of Paul Atreides and the events on Arakkis. Andrew Gordon, Coy Jandreau, & John Humphrey give their REACTION, Commentary, Analysis, Easter Eggs, Breakdown, & Full Spoiler Review for the new series based on Frank Herbert’s novels exploring the rise of The Sisterhood / Bene Gesserit, along with the centuries-long conflicts between the great families such as House Harkonnen, House Atreides, & Beyond! Dune: Prophecy features performances from Emily Watson (Gosford Park), Olivia Williams (The Sixth Sense), Mark Strong (1917, Kingsman: The Secret Service), Jessica Barden (The End of the F***ing World), Emma Canning (Masters of the Air), Travis Fimmel (Vikings), Jodhi May (The Witcher), Sarah-Sofie Boussnina (Knightfall), Josh Heuston (Thor: Love and Thunder), & MORE!
Andrew, Coy, & John REACT to all the Political Intrigue, Century-Spanning Prophecies, Sandworms, Spice, and beyond as the series attempts to flesh out the world-building and lore of the Dune-iverse. Can this live up to Denis Villeneuve’s films???

  1. biggest highlight of this ep is the perfromance of the actress playing as lyla with also switching acting personality when playing as raquella and dorotea to matching their facial expressions plus the meotion for them well.

  2. 36:20 playing the tabletop rpg i loved this part. in the trpg its made by the same ppl that make the current edition of dune board game and the combat in that is you have a disk with power, hero chosen and weapon/defense card when facing off your opponent.
in the trpg its kinda similar with when facing a npc be combat, intrigue or similar you rely on role abilities plus assets gained from the adventure. for bene gesserit spymasters if play as them in combat your way of taken down opponent is with your connections say enemy soldier you know their family and can intimidate/persuade them to back off or help you be ally or attack their own ppl. then if normal talk doesnt work use the voice just like that.

  3. Is it just me or did Desmond get progressively more Australian each episode? I swear in the first episode, Travis Fimmel was doing his Ragnar accent, but now he's just standard Aussie 😂

  4. It was a very understated yet significant choice to display how foldspace works in this universe when the Heighliner appeared out of "nowhere" above Arrakis. I squeed at the screen when I saw it. This show manages to incorporate book lore in a way that is very easy to miss if you don't "know". THAT scene with Valya vs. Proto Sardaukar was BADASS no matter what anyone says!

  5. So epic! As a fan of the books, it’s really cool to see the teases for Gholas, Tleilaxu race and an active face dancer! 🤯 I’m worried for Dune Messiah because if people aren’t a fan of this show…Dune Messiah is going to suffer 🤷🏻‍♂️ but I’m a fan of the novels so even though the film and Tv adaptation aren’t incredibly faithful I just love to see it in live action.

  6. I'm definitely a "Dune person"–have read the Frank Herbert books, and I'm a fan of the films (Villeneuve and Lynch too), and I have to say–I really loved this show! I'm not a book purist, and my main source of enjoyment is seeing the Dune universe and themes play onscreen. I think the show fits well with the DV films. A few parallels: (a) Valya calling Javicco "a weak man" echoes Emperor Shaddam calling Duke Leto "a weak man" in the film; (b) Inez grabbing the sword before she fights the guards alongside Kieran is similar to Paul rushing to grab the sword off of the dead Harkonnen soldier at the beginning of Dune: Part Two; and (c) Javicco fighting the notion of external control by saying "this is something I can control" before he stabs himself is a theme we see show up in multiple of the Frank Herbert books.

I'm so excited for Season 2, which will inevitably spend more time on Arrakis, deal with a power vacuum (Inez vs. Constantine??), and continue to follow Valya/Tula/Theo and the other sisters. I think we will see more of the Tleilaxu.

  7. It seems as though this fear virus is the reason behind the sisterhood developing the litany against fear mantra. Tula guides her sister to let go of the fear and let it pass through her. Also, the acolyte who did not have the dream and was able to push past the fear of dislocating her thumbs to get out of the restraints also may be part of developing the litany against fear.

  8. Love y’all, but do any of you actually take notes during the show? It might really help you stay on track and actually remember the key points to discuss, instead of going off on tangents about Rings of Power, Game of Thrones, or runtime. Just a thought! Yay s2! 👀😂❤

  9. Wait, so the worm in movies and here is a machine this whole time? Olivia Williams just joined The Wheel of Time as Queen Morgase Trakand which is the same type of character here in Dune. She is ruthless and strong minded. Can't wait for season 3 in March 2025.

  11. Regular viewer here. At the end when Tula guides Valya how to survive the virus, we literally see the mantra happen: "I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration." This is Desmond's power.

" I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me."- this is Tula guiding Valya on how to overcome it, and not fight it.

"And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path." – THAT EYE MOMENT WITH DESMOND!

"Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain”. Desmond's rebirth from the worm.

LOVE how we visually saw this mantra/cure to the virus👏👏👏👏👏

  12. Frank Herbert, Dune Quote. “I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.”
