DUNE PROPHECY Episode 1 Ending Explained (Full Breakdown)
source
thanks for the videos Cortex! good stuff as always
Definitely gonna continue watching. So happy we are getting more Dune, and as a Dune fanatic I hope more people buy and read all the books.
‘Mixed’ is correct. Let’s see how it moves forward. Thanks for the review.
this is terrible narration, learn to speak like you aren't an autistic robot trying to imitate a posh tosser
Well, I love the world of Dune and am curious where the show is going, so I'll keep watching, but this episode sure wouldn't have hooked me if I wasn't already a fan. It was super exposition heavy and dropped us in the middle of a ton of complicated plotting with no foothold with which to get traction and connect to the story. I was mostly just lost through it and didn't feel much reason to care about anything one way or another. Plus, for taking place 10,000 years before the films, it feels like it could've happened only decades before for how much it looks like them. So while it wasn't a terrible start, it was very underwhelming.
Since Desmond was not a character in Dune I’m curious to see what he’s a stand in for? 🫤
This is Frank Herbert's Universe. Dumb.
I found it disappointing… it just lacked the gravitas of the Villeneuve movies.
and it was also rather rushed… I think the whole semi-prologue with young Valya probably could’ve been the whole first episode, possibly more 🤷🏻♂️
…and the design of the thinking machine robots seemed rather generic and silly 😑
Mixed is generous. It is so bad, I want to give it a zero, but that’s not possible, so I give it a one. Doesn’t hold a candle to the movies or books, like at all, the score was tragic, the acting was meh, the VFX was sad. Overall, a mediocre and disappointing start. And the robots, was that Skynet? Is John Connor the Kwisatz Haderach? 😂
show kinda boring, the Bene seem far less cool and mysterious and they are all pretty hideous
Pruett Richese and Princess Ynez are not yet married. They are betrothed to marry once Pruett comes of age…
Oh man how in the world did the reviewers say this show was bad? The first episode was great and nothing silly at all. I loved it
GREAT first episode 👍🏼👍🏼
*Spoiler- Desmond is definately a face dancer. Also the raptilian machine is made of IX. With the mentioning of God Emperor the prophecy is going in the right path.
i'm all in.
Thanks, Cortex. your analysis is eye-opening, and truly, a home run.
I had no idea this series was coming out, so, I had no expectations. Suddently esterday I saw 'reviews' of it on YouTube and thought "this I have to see". HBO Max isn't available in Canada but I wondered if it could be on Amazon Prime and, there it was! I thought it was brilliant. The only let-down was seeing how Travis Fimmel now looks like Barney Rubble from the Flintstones and why is he using that weird semi-Germanic accent he developed in Vikings? But I'm hooked by this series.
And Cortex, you sure have your own completely unique pronunciation of almost every Dune name. But 'Pruitt' is certainly not 'Prew-wett'. It's 'Prue-itt'.
It's not Villeneuve's universe you moron… Also your analysis sucks.
I'ts Valya Härkönen.
Harkonnen is just a mistake.
Now break out the neon glow sticks and banging techno we've got a generic club scene to film…PURE FRANK HERBERT STYLE
Thank you. Possible Spoiler, anyone who read the final book in Dune -Timeline …the mech-blue eyes… Omnius!
I was just about to ask how soon after the establishment of the sisterhood, did they begin taking the water of life and when did they start seeding planets with prophecies? Also, my theory is that Tiran-Arafel is connected directly to the worms of arrakis. In the books, the worms are worshipped as gods. The fact that Alia's plans failed so pointedly seem to suggest that Tiran-Arafel and the Kwisatz-Heidarach are not related and instead Tiran-Arafel leads the sisterhood to discover the Kwisatz-Heidarach prophecy.
I've been thinking all morning about the first episode. It dawned on me that the glowing blue eyes in the vision belong to none other than Leto II, the God Emperor! He's using his prescience to travel back through his genetic heritage to scare off key Bene Gesserit from their breeding program and their ultimate search for the Kwisatz Haderach. Why? Because it created his father. And the destructive chaos his father unleashed led to Leto choosing a terrible metamorphosis, to save humanity. Leto II's Golden Path hobbled the Bene G's for thousands of years as he didn't trust them and had no use for them. After his death, the Scattering happened. That resulted in the Honoured Matres returning to destroy the Bene G homeworld. Or, maybe it's that those who had the vision saw a prescient glimpse of a future which would contain the greatest threat to them if they pursued their ambitions.
Honestly the first episode was okay visually but i had some reservstions.
For starters the club scene wasnt necessary, i know it was to illustrate the carefree lifestyle of the inez and her brother but it just was particularly flat and dull.
Secondly the sparring scene with the sword master it was terrible, it was so bad i was like what was the plan here , if the plan was to depict the slow-blade technique which would breach the shields. Well they failed. Thr choreography was dull and sluggish.
Also the sparring session at wallach ix where the recruits were sparring boy it was terrible. The pacing, foot work and hit on contact just seem like whoever choreographied this wasnt certain of what the weriding-way ought to look like on screen. And quite frankly it shows
The first scene with thr younger valya th performance there was mechanical, it looked force. It lack believability.
Finally the dialogues could have been better.
For a sci-fi HBO series im struggling to understand why we even have s dune series, because its not necessary. If were meant to get a series i believe it makes much sense to have one on the mentat's
Why because they are msjor faction's in the movie or media who havent gotten much recognition and they're as much revelant to the lans rad as the other schools like the bene gessirt
I enjoyed the episode especially the ending which makes for a very intriguing early part to the story being told. The amount of times they went back to the masters discussing things and reviewing the overall situation became a bit monotonous, perhaps a result of the slight redirection the show took during production. I am concerned we may see too much of this type of thing plugged in to lengthen episodes and carry narrative. In the end I think most of the Dune fan base will enjoy this show. They’re definitely giving us quite a bit of technology and graphic work. Looks pretty cool
That had to be the God Emperor with the blue eyes and deep voice lol.
Tiran-Arafel is probably not to do anything with Paul. Rather, it is to do with his son, the God Emperor, who describes himself that his mission is to prevent Arafel.
I don't understand how this marriage would stabilize House Corrino, when Ynez's children would be literally Richese. In feudal systems, the father's name and bloodline matters.
Also, the Emperor didn't have any legal male heir even this early? Then the Corrino bloodline literally doesn't exist.
FYI Mother Superior Raquella is an offspring of Vorian Atreides.
it was amazing
This episode sucked ass
I'm liking it so far! I was worried they might take a slower pace with it,but doesn't seem that way so far. I do wish theyd go a lil further back so we get to experience the machine war. And see how they purged it from their future. Maybe we'll get more flashbacks to that past.
