Dumpers At Dawn! Renovating The Walled Gardens

Want to see what can realistically be achieved by a hard-working couple of Youtube small chateau owners (with the help of Father – in- law) in under a week?

Then cor blimey! What an episode we have in store for you this week!
We take you out and about on a domestic day and show you what we get up to on a β€œDay Off” plus some of the scenery and fields in the surrounding areas.

Nick gets to work completing the rain water storage project after fellow Youtubers Tony and Jane from At Not Quite a Chateau DIY mad a key for one of our wine tanks a couple of weeks ago. Before of course a handy storm comes over so he can test the system.

Clare indulges Nick and cracks on with a painting job he has requested and whilst taking a break from the midday sun utilises some fresh cherries a neighbour kindly dropped off and shows you how to make a quick batch of Cherry Vodka!

It is then time for the big guns – Father-in-law arrives to help and a delivery of a Toy for a couple of days – watch the grin on Nick’s face as he navigates using the Bobcat…but soon a spanner is thrown into the works – stay tuned to see what will happen…is this all the calm before the real storm? Or will it all just work itself out?

We finish of course with wine of the week – a gift from Mother Dearest of a bottle of Perigord Merlot – hmm smooth.

  1. Progress indeed! The fence looks great, all the whacking off yielding a pristine surface (minus a few dog holes) for the tiles, and most excitingly – the water retention system is working! That's such a great idea. Have a good week Nick and Clare!

  2. We do the cherry thing with moonshine. Are we allowed to have moonshine? No. It's illegal. Shhhhh! Don't tell on me. (I'll add that it turns the cherries to the color of Band-Aids. Not very appealing, but they will kick your a$$, lol.)

  3. Lot's of hard work done but well worth the result. I thought you'd put some green L [learner] plates on the back of the dumpster for a laugh, then realised it's the name of the company. πŸ˜„

  4. That was a great week a lot of work well done. I am with you Claire no need to paint the edge but you have to keep Nick happy. That rain is like a deluge. Will that be free water to use if there is a hose ban.

  5. Cheers, indeed! Your outdoor spaces are really beautiful! You manage to get so much done between rainstorms. Also, the rainwater harvest system is rather ingenious. Are you thinking of installing solar panels? The outbuilding roofs look like prime candidates to me! Have a great week!

  6. I love your vlog. You both are so funny and playful. I only wish more people were subscribed to your channel because you really are worth the watch. The work you tackle and accomplish is quite amazing. I particularly liked the fence panel you choose for around the gite. Cute. Water harvesting is such a good idea for those old wine tanks. The "Parents" need a round of applause. Your Dad works so hard for a man of his age, not to take anything away from Nick and you. Kudos to all for making the pool look even more awesome. Okay then, waiting for the next time that I can spend with you. Thank you.
