Did you know on January 4, 1970, The Whos’ Keith Moon accidentally ran over his driver and bodyguard, Neil Boland, killing him?
After attending a grand opening of The Red Lion Pub, his neighbor’s bar, Moon’s car was attacked by young skinheads that resented the rich rockstar. Boland got out of the Bentley to confront the crowd.
Moon felt threatened and attempted to drive away even though he didn’t drive because he had no license or insurance. Boland ends up getting trapped under the car and dragged to his death.
Keith gets charged with drunk driving, driving without a license, and driving without insurance. The charges were dropped, declaring the death an accident, and the judge stated, “You had no choice but to act the way you did.”
