  1. european trucks are mainly cab overs because the thight turns/roads and that the journey's arent as long as american styled trucks, American Styled truck (nose trucks) Are so big to be comfortable for the driver that may drive a couple of days in a row to get to 1 destination, While europeans mainly stay in their own country wich on average isnt as big as usa.

  2. I'm no truck driver but I am Swedish (Which btw I think that mod is based of a Swedish Scania truck). But the reason for the cab over here in Europe is because our roads are generally much smaller here than in the US. And many city's are centuries old with streets designed way before the car even existed.

  3. Maybe someone already covered this, but there's some reasons cabovers are extremely rare in the U.S. Part of it is simply based on their looks. Most drivers want their truck to look more macho. Another part is because until relatively recently, they rode REALLY rough! They also have very little storage space, which makes them not the best choice for OTR drivers who aren't home every few days or weekend. There is also the belief that they are less safe in a crash due to there being so little between you and whatever you hit. Also, sleeping on top of the engine sucks.

The primary reason they went away though, is because old restrictions were lifted. There used to be strict limits on the full truck/trailer length. The two could be any length, as long as they fell under that limit when combined. Eventually they changed it to where there's just a hard limit on the trailer length (without permits anyway). So now most non-specialized cargo is hauled in a 53 foot trailer with a tractor of whatever size you want. There's a couple states with max length wheelbase limits from the 5th wheel (where the two couple together) to the trailer axle, but that's about it.

TL;DR Cabovers are mostly gone because they just don't have much of a purpose with the way our infrastructure is designed.

  4. On the 3 axle truck the rear axle is a tag-axle only.
On the 5-axle (the cab was ripped off of, the middle rear axles are drive, the first and last rear are steerable tag axles.

  5. Comodo, if you were living out of your truck, like North American (USA/CAN/MEX) truck drivers do, you'd want our conventional cab trucks, as they have considerably more living space inside than the Euro trucks have.

  6. The cab tilt control is hidden behind an exterior panel between the grill and left door. How to open that panel I don't know, but Neilogical discovered that control box when that particular panel got ripped off, in his introduction video for the Segra truck series. How it is normally opened was, unfortunately not confirmed at that time. My theory is there is a button, inside, somewhere, that opens that exterior panel. If not inside the cab, then maybe when the grill is opened a release is found inside radiator bay. Unfortunately, I can't confirm either possibility.

  7. It's based on the large Scania trucks.
That one is a (6×4/2) single power axle config, which is common in Europe. So only the middle axle is powered, you need to lock the diff and lift the rear axle to get traction.
The rear axle is only there for load capacity.

In Australia we get both the US and European trucks.

  9. @CamodoGaming This is btw based on the newest Scania in real life. The best and most powerful commercial truck in the world with a 16-Liter V8 that pumps out 770hp and a massive torque of 3700 Nm (2,720 ft lbf).
