The Grumman LLV (or Long Life Vehicle as its known) is a mail delivery apparatus produced between 1987 & 1994 by a military contractor. This vehicle has been in the background of every Americans life since 1987, and has therefore earned the title as “most iconic American vehicle” by yours truly. The engine of the LLV is a GM Iron Duke 2.5L Inline 4. Producing 90 horsepower, this vehicle isn’t impressive by any means, but it being right hand drive, and being so iconic is what makes it so special.

The drivetrain was pretty stone-age for 1987; the Iron Duke mated to a 3-speed automatic. This was a standard drivetrain for the S-10 pickups back in the day. It's built to spend a lot of time puttering around at low speeds in subdivisions, not wound out on the highway. A lot of mail carriers in rural areas opted to use their own 4×4 vehicles so they could effectively deal with icy, snowy, or muddy back roads.
