  1. I've been keeping my eye on this game because of the art and writing that's been shared, but I'm slightly concerned by how tests are resolved. Why not just use dice? I feel like they're trying to do something that seems different, but in the end it isn't. I'd rather have the usability of dice over a gimmick I think?

edit – I guess if they offer deluxe runes of some form, it might be more pleasing to 'roll' them? They'd need to have some weight to them to feel like you're actually rolling some marked stones and whatnot. Cardboard just doesn't feel right if it's going to be a core mechanic and not just something you do during a one off thing.

  2. thanks very much for the playthrough. It's enough to tell me that's it's not for me. I love the art, but I didn't care for the writing (lots of words to actually say very little), and I really didn't care for the gimmicky triangle test chips. It also looks like leveling could become pretty difficult.

  3. Nice video, thank you.
Question about resting, shouldn't you choose if you gain 2 health or 1 sanity? Not both? There is / symbol.
Also just to be sure, so core of this game is reading random story cards from location decks, choosing the outcome and doing tests on abilities and then repeat again with next random card? Are there any bigger stories that continues on many cards, or are all these just short moments?
Also you showed Deep One Patrol card in the end, that would be some kind of fight? But again just tests on abilites i guess.

  4. Really appreciate this video, as the campaign nears its end I am still waffling on it.

I like story based things, and the verbosity doesn’t bother me at all. It seems very appropriate based on Lovecraft’s own prose.

I really don’t like the rune rolling though, I feel just dice would work better.

I might go in on the cheapest tier with no expansions, see if I can find them later on if I like it.
