  1. We know it’s not your cup of Gamefuel Doc but we’re proud of you for sticking with it. Try it in smaller doses maybe. After 4 or 5 or 10 hours it’s easy to get frustrated.

"idk why you would even compare them"

It's something to see. A souls game with such mass mainstream appeal when it's not designed for a causal crowd in terms of controls is a sight to behold(it really seems fromsoft expect Elden Ring players to know the controls and flow of gameplay having played all the previous in the series, tho this is the first in the series to give a pause the game tutorial). Every game dev of course wants everyone to buy their game and play it day after day and talk about it all the time with all their friends.
Minecraft, skyrim and even D&D are sword and board fantasy games but they are very casual. everyone can beat them. Even world of warcraft and all those mmos are designed for causals, but if you really care for endgame pvp, that's for the try hard subsect of those games.

Elden out of all the souls games has been made for the casuals.
Open world with a fast horse so you can always choose to run from fights till you are OP level from slow patient grinding ez kills and more approachable/big image less words UI menus dumbing it down for the casual crowd.

Doc describes the gameplay as: Swing, dodge, heal, swing. repeat
shooters can be described as: Loot, search for target, shoot. repeat
He was mainly pointing out how auto lock was required and learning patterns took all the need for skill away. That it was mindless gameplay. But once you play PvP in souls games as well as get boss fights and player allies along with npc allies into the mix all at once in one massive encounter, the skill gaps between players becomes clear.

PvE in a shooter game is usually even more boring and uninspired than a fromsoft game could ever be. People don't buy cod for the single player story, tho it has very often been a very nice bonus or coop mode. Half Life, Halo, gears of war, and doom series are solo shooters and they are the top of the shelf for solo shooters. There is always some dynamic gameplay or interactive story elements to those than just shooting that keep you wanting to keep shooting. But for the most part, PvE in games can only get you so far. Those experiences end. PvP/multplayer is always the endgame and have longer lasting lifespans because one you are making memories with friends and not with yourself and a machine, but players evolve and the challenge grows against one another

we all know both of these games have more depth to them and even if we do keep it simple, there is a thrill and enjoyment from doing those cycles with violence, speed and momentum ramping up more and more

I would love to see the Doc get better. Arguably, the controls for fromsoft games can be bothersome. Sprinting and jumping is the same button on the controller in dark souls 2 (the only souls game i have played to credits) and even as the same button there is a delay built in to the actions.

I adapted to and appreciate it as a form of immersion. The momentum needed to start my body to perform physical feats if I were wearing a full suit of armor in real life would be eqaul to what game translates to the player. idk if that was fromsoft's intention but that's how i interpret it and I have grown appreciation for it.

All that said, Elden Ring and all of the Fromsoft games are for everyone and are easy to beat if you use your gamer brains and problem solve the most optimal paths. Figure out the meta that works for you and be better than everyone else.

No matter the game. Doc will dominate and summit1g will buy an open world game and complain that it's an open world game and also be bad at the game.

  3. Doc I actually like watching you play this and hope you play some more. Just don’t forget to walk around a bit and use the bathroom while playing this particular game haha
