Drawing Air Algerie Boeing 737-700

Hello friends and welcome to this new video.
Today I am drawing an Airline from Africa, Northern Africa. Air Algerie.
The aircraft is a Boeing 737-700. Seven Tango Victor Kilo Tango to be precise. This aircraft is 7 years and 10 months old and it was delivered to the airline in late September 2016.

What airline is Air Algérie?

Air Algérie is the flag carrier of Algeria, headquartered in Algiers.
Operating from Houari Boumedienne Airport, it offers scheduled international flights to 39 destinations across 28 countries and domestic services to 32 airports. As of December 2013, it is entirely government-owned. Air Algérie is aligning its codeshare agreements, frequent flyer programs, and airport lounge agreements with SkyTeam carriers to meet membership requirements. The airline has also applied to join either Star Alliance or SkyTeam and is partnering with Lufthansa.

Algerian independence

Air Algérie, initially majority-owned by Compagnie Générale Transatlantique and Compagnie de Navigation Mixte, saw significant changes in ownership post-Algeria’s independence in 1962.
The Algerian government increased its stake to 57% in 1964, and by 1970, it owned 83% of the company. By 1972, the government fully owned the airline. Throughout the years, Air Algérie expanded and updated its fleet.
In 1968, it replaced aging DC-4s with four ex-Lufthansa Convair 440s, converted to the 640 version.
By March 1970, the fleet included one Boeing 737-200, five Caravelles, four CV-640s, three DC-3s, and one DC-4.
In 1972, three Fokker F27-400s were ordered, and the fleet saw the addition of more Boeing 737s.
By 1980, the fleet had grown significantly, including six Boeing 727-200s, ten Boeing 737-200s, three Boeing 737-200Cs, one Boeing 747-200C, and other various aircraft. In the early 1980s, additional Boeing 727s and 737s were acquired, and in 1984, Air Algérie became Airbus’ 48th customer by ordering two Airbus A310s. In 1989, the airline ordered three Boeing 767-300s, with the first delivered in 1990. Air Algérie also had a subsidiary, Inter Air Services (IAS), operating domestic and regional flights with Fokker F-27 aircraft.

Modernisation of the company

Air Algérie became a limited company in 1997.
By 2006, its capital was 57 billion dinars (about 560 million euros).
The airline has a sales network of 150 agencies in Algeria and abroad, connected to a booking system and distributed through GDS.
It is a Joint Stock Company with a registered capital of 43 billion dinars.
In November 2010, Air Algérie announced a €400 million investment to renew its fleet starting in 2011.

Destinations

In June 2007, Air Algérie inaugurated the Algiers–Montreal route and launched flights to Beijing in February 2009.
By September 2012, the airline held a 46% market share on international routes, being the leading operator for flights between Algeria and Spain, with France being a key destination on six of its ten most popular international routes. As of October 2015,Air Algérie’s domestic network included 32 destinations within Algeria and an international network serving 43 cities. By December 2023, the airline expanded its operations to serve 33 countries and 78 routes.

Fleet

Between 1998 and 2000, Air Algérie ordered ten Next Generation Boeing 737s (seven -800s and three -600s), later increasing the -600 order by two.
The first 737-800 was delivered in August 2000, and the first 737-600 in May 2002, making Air Algérie the fifth global operator of the type.
In late 2003, the airline ordered five Airbus A330-200s and nine ATR72-500s, including six originally ordered by Khalifa Airways, to replace older aircraft like the A310s, B747-200s, B767-300s, and Fokker F27s.
In 2009, Air Algérie ordered four more ATR72-500s and seven additional Boeing 737-800s, receiving its 50th Boeing jetliner in April 2011.
In November 2012, the airline announced a €600 million investment to acquire eight aircraft, including two freighters, by 2016.
In early 2013, orders for three more A330-200s and five more 737-800s were disclosed, with plans to deploy the A330s on new routes.
A tender for 14 passenger and two cargo aircraft was launched in April 2013. By the end of 2013, Air Algérie signed a letter of intent for three A330-200s and planned to replace the aging B767s.
In 2014, Air Algérie ordered three ATR 72-600s, eight Boeing 737-800s, and two Boeing 737-700Cs. The ATR order made it the largest operator of the type in Africa, with the first ATR 72-600 delivered in December 2014.
In June 2023, Air Algérie ordered five A330-900s, two A350-1000s, eight Boeing 737 MAX 9s, and committed to purchasing two Boeing 737BCFs.
Additionally, the airline will lease ten aircraft, including four A330ceo, two A330-900, two 737-800, and two 737 MAX 9.
