  1. Funny Video.
I'm Australian and yes Kath and Kim are based on bogans.
Our 'SLANG' and how strong it is indicates where you were brought up and your financial and educational background. (Most of the time)

Our slang also has a reputation around the world as being the main accent.
    This is not true.
Yes, even well spoken Australians have a touch of slang in their vocabulary.

    Most Australians understand slang.
Kath and Kim are over exaggerating to a point but there are some areas (remote usually) that have developed their slang so much that some Australians cannot even understand.

The very posh accent (the customer service women) is based on the Queens English.
This accent shows society that you have come from wealth and are very well educated.
    (Most of the time)
They too have over exaggerated the accent slightly.

Most Australians accents are a mixture of the 2. Slang and the Queens English.

Every country has a mixture of accents.
For example, in America, the New York accent is very different from the Florida Accent.
You can tell, the majority of the time, were one comes from by their accent.

I would love to see Kath and Kim portrayed on one of RuPaul's comedy segments.

    Great Video😊

  2. I'm Australian and this show is hilarious! I have watched it over and over so many times. Never gets old. 😂😂 I actually bought the box set when it came out.😂😂
These 3 ladies have worked together for years and are comic geniuses.

  3. Majority of this was filmed in my hometown, and most of the "fountain lakes" scenes are the original Fountain Gate mall in Narre Warren (also not too far from my hometown).

This show is iconic, I don't know a single person under 30 who doesn't know, love and quote this show.
Look at me, look at me, look at meeee

  4. Though not Netflix- you should watch Sordid Lives series. Olivia Newton John is in it with some great self- penned beer swilling songs such as “You Look Like A Dick to Me ‘. I was not happy to know the series didn’t continue and it has a huge cult following. It’s hugely fun and sordid.

  6. You two are lovely. Aussie here. You got some publicity in a news email so I wandered over. So very pleased you have discovered Kath and Kim. My wife and I rewatched the whole thing again through covid and it is an absolute pleasure. We love it in Australia and a lot of the phrases are part of the cultural landscape now (if you have the right friends).

If you do movies and fancy another Aussie classic, you should take great pleasure in The Castle. A young Eric Bana in a classic role is one of its many highlights.

    Hugs!
