The most complex movie ever made
One of my absolute favorite movies! Super thrilled to see a video dedicated to it! It's a very underrated film, undeservingly, so thanks Looper!
Another thing people overlook is that the film takes place over Halloween which is Scorpio season, Scorpio is all about bringing darkness to light in a Jungian sort of way. This explains why the characters wake up from their nightmares at the end of the film in which their shadow side is dealt with by their subconscious. The suggestion is that these dreams are actually real events taking place in a parallel universe.

My #1 favourite movie of all time. Beautiful, dark, and more than slightly unsettling. If you can still find a copy of the book Richard Kelly put out explaining The Tangent Universe, it really helps to understand the film. One of the greatest sci-fi/horror films ever made.

Im so confused. On one side there is the bland 90's techno music and a narrator talking like a WWE-commentator campaigning for american freedom. On the other side, this is very well written for a video of this length, and some of Donnie Darko's deeper themes are actually explored in an interesting way. This is cultural HDR.
The most confusing thing about the movie is how anyone allowed Richard Kelly’s Directors cut to be released as it takes a great mystery of a movie and turns it into a stinking pile of 💩
Could someone answer this for me? If the tangent universe was created because the duplicate jet engine was accidentally created via a glitch in the 4th dimension, why does it fix everything to transport the jet engine to the primary universe? That airplane is probably flying somewhere or parked at some airport on October 2, so wouldn't pulling in a jet engine from October 31st result in the same problem of there being a duplicate engine? Only now it's in the primary universe instead of the tangent universe. Why does this fix the paradox?
